I'd take Jagr and Tyutin over Redden and Naslund anyday.

+1, this could be a HUGE mistake.

If the Rangers miss the playoffs next year, Sather should be sacked..

If they get past the second round, he'll come off as a genius

In other Ranger news: MSG will continue to replay 1994 highlights until the next season.

WELL FIRST OF ALL THE GOOD THING ABOUT NASLUND IS THAT HE PLAYED WITH LUNDQVIST ON TEAM SWEDEN. REDDEN IS A GOOD SOLID DEFENSEMAN.

Dude, how the heck do you figure Jagr and Tyutin are better than Redden and Naslun? First off, there's no debate to be had on the defensive end; Redden is 30 times the defenseman Tyutin will ever be, and I liked Tyutin. Seriously, watch Redden play...the guy is solid. He had one bad year in Ottawa, it can happen to anyone who is disillusioned with his team. As for Jagr, if he's motivated he is better than anyone in the league, but he admitted that he didn't give 100% half the season! Naslund's numbers were basically equal to Jagr's last season, and our other pickup, Zherdev, actually had more goals. I am a huge Jagr fan, and I wanted us to keep him, but if you're Glen Sather, can you really afford to pay a Team Captain who admits he tanked half the season? The Rangers' offseason moves were excellent, and I'm telling you Redden will turn out to be a much better signing than Campbell or Orpik would have been. He's been a steady, all-star caliber defenseman in this league for years. For that type of money, you want a guy who is proven and didn't just have one or two good seasons. Plus, we need a smart veteran defenseman to serve as an example for all our young defensemen, and now we have exactly that.

Seriously, my fellow Ranger fans need to stop being so hard on this team. We've played real good hockey 3 years in a row, and Sather is showing why he's one of the best minds in hockey. Don't blame him for the past, when he inherited Neil Smith's barren farm system. Look our farm system now...the guy has set us up to be competitive for years, and I truly believe it will yield Stanley Cup results down the line.
