he would be a great asset to any team even if he is 34. i love watching him play, a true grit player who can score and knock guys flat on there tail. also a great playmaker and defensive player, Philly would be smart to get him but i would really like to see him play along side Milan Hejduk in Colorado!!!!

The Avalanche need him. I know it is said that "one man doesn't make a team", but that man does!

Forseberg would trump Gretsky if he had the same league and protection that Wayne had.

Katrina hit it right on....Forsberg would've surpassed Gretz if he had the same protection. Its frustrating to know Foppa took alot of cheap shots & cheap hits every night, he didn't complain he took it like a true hockey player. Because of that he had a shorter career. This is why I hate Oh Holy #87, come within 2 feet of him and you're in the sin bin. Hope to see him one more time!

No way, I love Forsberg but Gretzky is not called the great one for no reason. if he was in his prime today in this NHL he would be just as big a force. Gretzky also played when forsberg was in his prime and was still better. but with all that said i would love to see forsberg in the NHL on a team that needs to just get over the hump like washington, new york or san jose.

If you think that Gretzky could play as good in the league today as he could in the league in his day, you're out of your mind. There is not a player in the game today who could be the player that he was back then. Not because of talent, although that certainly factors in, but because the league is just different. Gretzky in his prime then and Gretzky in his prime now would be two totally different people. If Foppa had played with Gretzky, it would have been close to an even matchup. Foppa is one of the best players to ever play the game.

Also, Gretzky did not play while Foppa was in his prime. Foppa's prime years were just after 2000. in 2002-2003 he scored 106 pts in 75 games. During the years that Gretzky and Foppa were playing together, Foppa had a better pts/game numbers. Face it. Foppa in his prime vs Gretzky in his prime in the same league? Foppa every time.

I am a huge Peter Forsberg Fan, but you are comparing apples to oranges here. Yes, the league was much different when Gretzsky was in his prime. But, Gretzsky's amazing talent changed the game into what it is today. I don't think you can compare anyone to The Great One, even Peter Forsberg. But on a side note, Forsberg is my favorite player of all time to watch on the ice and I hope he comes back and plays for the Avs!!

Peter is my favorite player too! I would LOVE to have him back in Philly, but if not, anywhere in the league.

I read somewhere about the Soviet coach, during the famous summit series between Soviet and Canada in the seventies, got a question about which player, Bobby Orr or a russian I don't remember the name of, was the best. The Soviet coach answered; that's easy, just imagine a one on one game between player Y and player X and then a game with 2 of player Y and 2 of player X and so on up to 5 on 5...then you know their strengths and weaknesses and you will know which one is the best player of the 2.
I have often played that game between different players and I must say that Forsberg is pretty much unbeaten, even playing the superb Gretzky.
Any out there see a player that will beat him in this game?
(...and I'm sorry, I don't remember who won the Orr match-up the coach used for this game)

i totally agree,he needed protection on his wing, should have been owen nolan but they had to trade him for taht guy there, then he never would have had to take those abuses...

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aquarius

The more you want to control someone, or someone wants to control you, the more difficult life will be today. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so the last thing you should do now is to act as though you own this person, or tell them what to do, because it will be an instant recipe for rebellion and trouble. Mars is retro in your house of significant others and open enemies after all. If you don't want to spoil the evening's celebrations you'll have to make compromises, and hope that this other person will do the same. Don't let the fuss stop you having a very happy New Year's Eve.
