The Wild let another player slip away. What else do we have to do as fans to get the management to spend some money. Their consecutive sellout streak will end in 2010/2011 after we miss the playoffs again this season. New owner - same old BS.

I read somewhere else that the Wild actually offered him a sweeter deal than Anaheim did, and his decision was based solely on NOT wanting to share ice with his brother. He said he and his brother have a good relationship together and he didn't want to risk that over vying for the same ice.

Good pick up for Anaheim. I'm guessing he'll play with Teemu.

I heard the same thing, we offered him the best deal out there and Fletcher was upset because he took so long to decide, had he made this decision sooner, then we could have gone after another good center. I also heard that he ended up NOT wanted to play with his brother. They had some quarrels when they played one the olympic team. Too bad, Fletcher did everything he could on this one, cant blame him. At least he brought in Havlat and an offensive minded coach. The team should be really fun to watch for the first time ever!

Even after reading this article and Keeve's link, I still believe he signed in Anaheim for one year to play with Teemu. After Teemu retires after next season, Saku would become a free agent, and could then sign with the Wild.

To disgruntled fans, they failed to sign an aging center who is slowing down, injury prone, and most importantly had low production numbers. The elder Koivu might not have been a good fit, think about it, big brother who wore the C for 9 years now has to sit and watch little brother wear the c. Good no sign.

Lets see. Good relationship with little brother but didn't want to ruin that by competing for playing time. I read "Little brother is a lot better than me at this stage and I can't play 2nd fiddle to him so I will go somewhere else". Sako's numbers keep going down and Miko's numbers keep going up. Trade for a center or role with what we have. Good no sign. GO WILD!

Trade for Kessel or the Heater. That is the only thing the team can do to prove to me they actually care about trying to win.

Fletcher has had a horrible off season signing free agents. His drafting isn't much to brag about either. Very dissapointed at the lack of players the Wild signed this off season. No playoffs in 2009/2010 season

So much for new ownership spending money to put a contender on the ice. Cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap!

A few years ago the Ducks traded for Pronger and they won the Stanley Cup...brilliant trade! This year they sign Koivu and will win the cuop again in 2010. Brilliant signing!

What a crock!!! I hope he blows out his knee and then dies in a car wreck during the off season. No, I'm just kidding...I wouldn't want to play for the Wild either. The chance to play with a fellow countryman over your little brother probably wasn't to hard of a decision. Go Ducks!!!

Either love and support the Wild or shut up and love another team. Seriously, who really cares what you think?

I hope most of these people on here aren't Wild fans. I just can't believe the stupidity that is coming across these blogs. The Wild pursued Saku before only to have him re-sign a one year deal with the Habs. He can sit there and say that he's very close with his brother and it would be exciting to play with him, but I don't buy that at all. He's closer with Teemu than he is with his own brother. Secondly, the Wild did offer Saku a better deal than Anaheim so there's nothing more that Fletcher could've done to get him here. Lastly, people complaining this offseason about the lack of moves made. Were you a fan the past two offseasons? Signing guys like Moore and Branko is better than signing Havlat, Hnidy, and Zanon? Fletcher has done well but had some bad luck with trying to sign Saku. I hope he has a backup plan now that Saku went elsewhere, he's doing a good job so far. And people please ACTUALLY know what you're talking about on these blogs if you comment.

Why in the world did you guys choose the name "the wild"? I was under the impression that this was the name that the fans voted for. It's one of the dumber team names. What's next, the Las Vegas Really Hot ?

Who would've thought that playing with your brother hurt the Wild's chances of landing Saku? The need remains for the team: An effective center to anchor the second line so that scoring will be up this season. I don't know who else is out there though with all the attention having been on Saku.
