Where's the follow-up to this, Tribune? Pretty poor when all you have is a rewritten TSN report about your own team!

This is really going to be trouble for the Hawks. The update on TSN made it sound like if the NHL grants some kind of leniency, the NHLPA will file a greivance.

Something similar happened to the Devils a few years ago and they were forced to pay market value to keep their players. The Hawks don't have that luxury.

Losing Versteeg was a real possibility with or without this error, but losing Barker AND Versteeg? Shudder.

Sorry guys, the Wild just made Versteeg a 5 year, 38 million offer. Thanks for the freebie!

Barker covered his ass by signing a 3 year $9.25 million deal. I guess he wanted to cash in before the Hawks run out of money. Waive bye-bye to Versteeg. With all of the other RFA's signing there can't be enough money to sign Versteeg now. Can't wait to see how the Hawks sign Kane, Toews, and Keith next year. It's not like they can move Campbell's salary very easily. Or Hossa's for that matter.

To me when Hossa turned down long term deals last year to sign for one yr with the Wings for a chance to WIN a Cup tells me a lot about the player - a player that wants to WIN.
He only wanted a free ride to a Cup as was shown by his disapearing act in the playoffs. I guess Hawks management didn't watch the finals before making a decission on him. He's a player that wants to win but doesn't do anything when it comes to trying.

Daily Horoscope for November 30

Cancer

The nurturing Moon continues to move through your eleventh house of friends and associates, possibly bringing a mentor into your life. There is always much wisdom that can be gained by observing the lives of others; you can avoid certain mistakes by watching them made by others. In this case, you may be faced with financial or sexual issues as Jupiter shakes things up in your eighth house of sex, money, and power... if the stakes are high, you need to think twice.
