Great season with the Hawks. Hope the Wild don't find out about your glass shoulder...

One shoulder injury that resulted in a torn labrum that wasn't repaired properly in the surgeries doesn't make the shoulder glass. Sure, he missed most of the first season because of his shoulder, but he played through much of the second season with a torn labrum, not reported to the media, and still he was one of the top players on the ice.

He underwent surgery at the end of his second season, so as not to miss more games, and came back last season to be the teams #1 player in the regular season AND in the playoffs. He didn't miss a single game due to an injury to his shoulder. Not one. In fact, he didn't have any injuries except the blow to the head that was considered by most to be one of the worst hits in recent history. Even then, he tried to play in the next game. The man has guts and determination, yet still some bubba's sit on their computers and take cheap shots. What's up with that?

To me, this last season showed that the shoulder surgery was done right and that the shoulder is NOT glass. It also showed that he is NOT injury prone, just that he suffered one bad injury that took a lot of time to be fixed right. It is now, and I thank Marty for the best season the Hawks have had in more than a decade and wish him great success in Minnesota.

I love Marty as much as the next guy, but last season was the first time he appeared in 70 games since 2001-02. Coincidence or otherwise, I like my guys on the ice.

Thank you, Mrs. Havlat.

It wasn't going to be him and Hossa and we got the better of the two.

Wow. How incompetent is that? I'd be looking for a new GM.

These guys have been playing hockey since the day they started walking and the vision in their heads has always been the coveted Cup. While cash is always king, the Cup is the mistress. Will Havlat win a Cup with the Wild? Chances are a big fat no. Why not take the one year deal and work out a move next year, possibly with a Cup under your sleeve.
What about these young players who aren't even close to a million dollars and now might not even have a contract as of today. Unless they're offered something from Detroit or Boston or some other team at least as close as the Hawks are to winning a Cup, why go.
Basically, the Cup is their ultimate dream. The money is nice, too, but the Cup is nicer.

Apparently you are just looking at his Hawks years. He missed 59 games after the lockout after having SHOULDER surgery. Three shoulder injuries, and two surgeries... Glass indeed.

I was happy Havlat was a Hawk. Last year was a good year for him. Previous seasons you had the feeling the Hawks wouldn't mind if he was on another team.
Well, Havlat is now. Hossa or Havlat. There is no comparison. Hossa hands down. The Hawks got a legitimate scoring threat who is not one hit away from missing 20 games. Still, Havlat was a good Hawk teammate.

Not good. Hopefully, those players named are happy enough being Blackhawks, that even if it was held up that they've become unrestricted due to an unexcusable blunder, they'll remain with the team anyways.

Tallon needs to get on top of his game, as championship teams are champions, because everyone from top to bottom are at the top of their games.

First of all Marty "Jim McMahon" Havlat is a talented player but the only way he would get a six year deal out of me is if it was loaded with incentives based on the number of games played each season.

As for Hossa deal I don't understand the length of it. Are hockey contracts like the NFL where the player can get cut beofre the end of the deal without having to pay the remaining salary? If not unless you are talking about a Wayne Gretzy type player 12 years is absolutley insane.

was it a clerical error?Or a F up by the GM? Hopefully nothing comes of the mistake...As far as Havlat, good for him on his long term deal and I for one will be interested to see how many games he plays over the next 6 years. To me when Hossa turned down long term deals last year to sign for one yr with the Wings for a chance to WIN a Cup tells me a lot about the player - a player that wants to WIN.

Unless I missed an update, it appears the league is looking into this and has not made a determination as to the status of these players. Lets wait and see. But, that being said, if we lose any of these players without compensation or end up overpaying them to keep them, Tallon should not only be thrown under the bus, the bus needs to be backed over him several times. Who waits until the last moment to mail something that important that is time sensitive?

We used to call Tallon "Barney Rubble" when he was Foley's sidekick. Apparently, it still applies.
