Hopefully he'll have a breakout year and help bring a cup to Philly. I'm excited for this coming season. Should be a good one. Let's Go Flyers!

I don't Upshall is that bad...he's capable of giving the team 20 goals a season...cause remember, he had 15 this past season, so 5 more goals isn't out of reach. Knuble is set to make 2.8MM while Upshall only makes 1.2MM. Therefore, if Hatcher can't be put on LTIR and chooses not to retire, than Knuble is the best bet to be traded since he's 36 now and is making more money than Scottie Upshall. Upshall is an important piece of the flyers team anyone cause he's a role player and has good chemistry with Carter.

I like Upshaw because he's always giving it his all. He's a pest, much like Hartnell, that isn't the biggest but he's in your face. It'll be sad to see either go. I hope Hatch hangs it up. He's getting slow and is taking bad penalties trying to stop the younger, quicker guys. I like him but his knee won't hold.

That is why I think he's trade bait. The Flyers need to shed salary to get under the slary cap and he's the only one that will be a UFA next year out of thier top forwards. So why not get something for him now, like a second or third round draft pick for next year since you can't take on anymore salary. Maybe even another teams prospect.

Point well taken. Hate to see him go, though. Who is getting the C since Smith is gone?

It will most likely be Kimmo Timonen or Mike Richards. Richards did say that he doesn't feel he's ready yet to wear the C...so maybe it'll be Timonen as Captain, with Gagne and Richards as Alternate Captains. Or maybe we can make Briere an alternate captain. I think Richards should be Captain though cause they've been wanting to make him captain since they drafted him, pretty much. He has all the qualities and skills to be a captain, and he's the captain the Flyers have been looking for since Keith Primeau wore the C.

By the way Red Bandit and everyone, we seriously need to find a way to get another website so that idiot Dev stops judging our comments. It's getting pretty annoying.

I just ignore it. He's just upset that he can't comment on anything and it's getting to him. But if you want to try another site there are two that I go on besides here. One is the Flyers official message board, and the other is http://flyerflies.com/forum/ which is pretty much the same lay out as the Flyers Board. The Flyers Message board is http://forums.philadelphiaflyers.com/ I like both these places. But I am mostly on the Offical Flyers Message board. Of course I have a diffrent name on there. If you pop on there with your names from here, then I will know who you are and revel myself then.

Knuble runs the power play. Knuble is good for 30 goals. Knuble is big.Knuble is a complete hockey player. He has decent speed. Knuble is durable. He is a leader. We need him get rid of upshall and give him a contract extension.Upshall is smaller, not as durable, not as much goal scoring potential, doesnt play power play. Knuble is to valueable to the team has to be another solution.

Probably Timonen or Richards...they would be logical choices. If I had to decide between the two, i would go with Richards cause he's the captain the Flyers have been looking for since Keith Primeau. He's the type of player who can carry the team on his back, but can go further because the Flyers are a younger, faster team, and Richards is only 23, compared to Primeau in 2004 when he was 34 or so. Richards is a world class leader, a difference maker, and it would be fitting since Crosby is the Captain of the Pens, and it'll be Crosby VS. Richards for the next 10 years pretty much. As for Timonen, he would be a great choice just to emphasis the importance of defensive aptitude and he was the Captain of the Predators. He was a big reason the Flyers moved on in both rounds, since he defended against Ovechkin and Kovalev. I think its time for Richards to wear the C though cause he's everything a team could want in a Captain. Make him captain, and then make Timonen and Richards alternate captains

I think it'll be Richards as well. He was asked after last season and he said he wasn't ready but J. Smith was still a Flyer so I think he did the political thing and chose his words wisely. I think he'll accept it if offered. So far as Gagne, he's a leader and should keep his A. I just hope things have stopped rattling around in his head and he stays healthy this year. We should win the division if he does. Let's Go Flyers!

Yes, I agree...although nothing is set in stone, I believe the Flyers will have a very good shot at winning the division, as long as Pittsburgh doesn't make a blockbuster deal at the trade deadline for a player like Marian Hossa, cause remember, Fedotenko and Satan only have one year deals. Yet, the Pens really don't have anything to offer for a big deal like that. The only players i could see the Pens targeting are Marian Gaborik(doubtful they'll get him from Minnie) or Daniel Sedin(from Vancouver, possible depending if the Canucks are in the playoff hunt or not.

I know the boys could implode and have a lack-luster season but I think they will hold their own. Last season's 10-game losing streak but alot of doubt in all of them. They rallied and ended on a really great note. If they stay healthy (big IF) I think they're the team to beat; not that I'm biased or anything. :-)

True, staying healthy has always been the key to the Flyers success and will be key this season. Alot of people are already picking Montreal to come out of the Eastern Conference this upcoming season, especially if they sign Mats Sundin, but i wont be convinced that they have a chance to come out of the East, unless Carey Price rebounds from his playoff disaster. Who knows what kind of an effect that will have on him, since he's only 21 and he was a rookie last season. The Pens will be in the mix, and as for the Rangers, i'm not sold on their offseason moves(especially Naslund/Redden). I think Redden-Roszival can make a good pair, if a change of scenery is what Redden needs...and i think Naslund will get 20-23 goals at most, even if playing with Drury/Gomez.
