From the Oilers forums:
Look on the bright side, Flames fans: 1. Being defeated by the Ducks wasn’t really an upset. 2. Having your team make the playoffs twice in the last nine years is something Calgarians can be proud of. 3. The Flames were the only team in the league that didn’t even attempt to improve their team at the trading deadline, and still made the playoffs. 4. The turning point in the series, when Iginla got his face mashed by an absolute nobody, didn’t occur until the sixth game. Plus, now he'll know Beauchemin is a lefty. 5. Darren McCarty doesn’t have to play any more hockey games where he won’t get paid. 6. Your team saved a new generation of fans from having to witness the humiliation of losing a playoff series to the Oilers. 7. If the Flames make the playoffs next year, the topless girls on the Red Mile will be one year closer to being legal. 8. For a team that’s a relic of the old NHL and has the league’s third worst offence, winning three playoff games is actually an accomplishment. 9. You don't have to watch Darryl Sutter ramble through another uncomfortable post-game press conference. 10. Dion Phaneuf (one point and minus 8 for the series, one shot in game seven) has five months to figure out what the hell went wrong. Plus, he can only get better, right?... right? 11. The Flames actually went down fighting, it was just hard to tell. 12. There are still four Sutter boys out there who might be able to lead the Flames to a Stanley Cup. 13. Your team was the last team to get ejected in the first round. 14. You can always live in the past and reminisce about the wonderful 2004 playoff run. 15. You can take comfort that the natural order of things in Alberta has been restored. 16. The Flames still technically made the playoffs. |
