Pitt is playing tough. I knew we'd hurt without Timmonen but didn't know how much. Didn't help that Coburn went down after just 2 minutes. Hopefully the boys will pull out two wins at home. If not, I think we can get out the golf clubs. Let's Go Flyers!

So the way you are thinking, Flyers will win at home and Pens win at home, RIGHT. so lets think ahead, Next 2 games are in Philly(series is tied 2-2), game goes back to Pitt(3-2 pens), than goes to Philly(series tied 3-3) than goes to Pitt( 4-3 pens win). I LIKE THE WAY YOU THINK.

Flyers in 7 !!! All reasoning would HAVE to go out the window for that to happen. It's really all on Game 3, because if they lose that one, they'll just come out of the tunnel throwing punches for Game 4 and spend the whole game down a man or two (it's the Flyers way of surrendering). There seem to be a lot of Flyers fans out there who think that their team is going to be able to turn the series around on physical intimidation once they get home. They're probably remembering that pathetic scene from 2000, when the Flyers were getting beaten by Johan Hedberg and an overachieving Pens team, and so brought out all their biggest goons for the final face-off and had them just start pummeling people. Well, sad to say, it might have worked that time--Philly did manage to turn that series around. But that Philly team was both tougher AND more skilled than that Pens team. The 2000 Pens didn't have Georges Laracque, Jarko Ruutu, Gary Roberts, Brooks Orpik, etc. THIS team does, and even their little guys and their biggest stars are willing to jump in there at the drop of a hat and defend their teammates. The physical toughness is AT LEAST even now, and the Pens skill level is a good measure ABOVE that of their cheese-steak-eating cross-state cousins. Pens in five, maybe six.

The problem the flyers are having is that their defense is just too slow to keep up with players like Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby. When you lose such a fast, skilled, and smart defenseman like Kimmo Timonen, you become exposed. It doesn't help when you lose your second best defenseman too. But even with Timonen paired up with Coburn, there is only one line you can concentrate on. If you shut down Malkin, Crosby will hurt you, and vice versa. Pittsburgh just has too many weapons, even though the Flyers have good scoring balance. The only way the Flyers could possibly win this series is if 1.)Biron plays out of his mind, 2.) The flyers score 4-5 goals a game, and 3.) The Pens get too cocky. I'm just hoping the flyers can win one game in Philly, before they lose the series. This is hard lesson, but it should serve as a reason to go out and get another defenseman like Timonen in the off season, and dump Hatcher, Modry, and Smith. Richards will be the captain next season, so we wont have to worry about that. The flyers offense is really deep and has some good prospects coming up (Claude Giroux and eventually JVR). But even though the flyers will lose this series, it's been a successful season and playoff run. They went from dead last in the league to the Eastern Conference Finals and beat two teams that were favored to win the series. The flyers didn't have anything to lose this series, since they exceeded people's expectations and have a bright future. If anything, the Penguins have more pressure on them to win it all. Since Marian Hossa will test the Free Agency waters come July, and the Pens have to resign alot of guys.

That was a completly diffrent team. This is not the Flyers off the past. The Pens are just as if not more physical then the Flyers. The Skill and speed is not even close. Biron is the reason the Flyers are this far. Kinda like back in 2000 when Hedberg played outta this world before losing to a better team. Pens in 5.

hockey hair wrote: Penguins in four! Optimistic--but possible. The Flyers will figure the way to win is to piss them off, but the Pens usually just play better the more pissed-off they are. Playing off the WhackOff-Ya Center's psycho energy and getting super-physical with the Pens off the bat, may be just what they need to shake themselves awake. They've beaten the Flyers twice withoput ever having anything close to their best games, but to win in Philly they'll need to play as well as they did the last two series.

DID you see Comcast Sports channel this morning. The Flyers should change their name to PHILADELPHIA CRYERS. First complaining about the bad calls than hoping the fans will get them motivated. WHAT LOSERS!!!
