Right, I'm starting it off right here ..

Bring back Gruden asap .. Al, give him what ever he wants to sort this mess out. The Man's wasted in the tv booth and we (all the Raider fans) would welcome him back with open arms.

And while your at it, send Russell to the bench and give Gradkowski or Frye a shot to see if they can at least be an improvement on moving the chains and managing a game, Because Russell clearly cant grasp it.

That sounds Great...I just don't think Gruden would take it...
I see both point that Russell should be benched and that Russell needs to work it out...but What is the real problem...is it the O-Line? is it Russell? is it coaching? is it WR's? is it all of it? You have to find the problem before you can fix it...The worst part about this loss is mentally it sets the team back 3 more steps....making a turnaround that much more unlikely.

Offensive line didn't get off the bus yesterday, and nine drops by receivers. Vince Lombardi couldn't fix that sh*t. The players have to execute ... period.

If we bring back Gruden as Head Coach, I want Tom Cable to stay on as the Offensive Line coach.

I think it's all of the above...It starts with the QB; as I stated in another thread, one of the biggest problems on offense is that Jamarcus Russell has yet to call an audible. If I'm Jamarcus Russell and if I see 9 in the box when we break the huddle and approach the line of scrimage, I'd be calling an audible for a passing play if a running play was called in the huddle...It seems to me that our offense hasn't gelled enough to move up to that level and in the NFL calling audibles at the line of scrimage are a big key to winning and the QB has got to be able to recognize when audibles are neccessary. It seemed to me that Rich Gannon called them every play, but he had more matured wideouts (2 of the best ever for that matter) plus a group of veterans that knew what it took to win. Kerry Collins called them every now and then but not as often as Gannon.

Audibles would help...but there is a lot more wrong with our Offense than Audibles....first they need to start believing in one another...all things are possible when you know the guy on either side of you has your back so to speak. Plus...dropped balls have to stop...Accountability for everything....Look what Tomlin did to Mendenhalll...Held him accountable for his actions...all the week before last Mendenhall was making errors in practice...so he got benched...then given the opportunity to redeem himself....look what happened...something like 165 yards rushing..and 2 TD's...Our guys need to be held accountable for their mistakes...

I agree on the 9 in the box and lack of audibles. The answer is to go shot-gun, spread them out and call pass plays on 1st down. Bush and Fargas in a one back set can pick-up a blitz since they are good blockers. Running a draw to one of them or using them as the saftey on a developing play could also do damage.

Hey CC,

Apparently poor old Loco was so unpopular as a kid, that his folks had to tie a pork chop around his neck so that the family dog would play with him !!

if russell is getting sacked and atacked that much and needs the time to throw, and has the arm to throw, put him in the shotgun position! i had mentioned the audible earlier and i agree with you all.

I am kind of torn on this...First I just have a hard time believing Gruden would come back...second...just because he comes back doesn't mean he will have the same success....on the other side...He may be just what the doctor ordered. I get the impression the team isn't buying what cable is selling..at least not consistently...I hate to say it and I know it probably wouldn't work in this era of primadonna's...but we need and Art Shell type to enforce discipline. A hard nose coach that doesn't put up with BS.. I think Art Shell would have done well last go round if we didn't have all those primaddonna's. I like hard nose football.

i was all excited to have shell back. the public did not want him for the most part. and players did not give it the chance. but i do have to say that i think he should have found another coach other than the bed and breakfast guy. right now if gruden cable and shell maybe a couple of x players like lionel washington even r gannon would help as asistant coaches. it would help to get the RAIDERS back to square one in a hurry! but all seems a little far from happening. but somethings gotta be done. like you said, i don't think players are buying into the system. i was all for cable at the end of last season. i started to believe in cable because he believed in putting points into the endzone inside the red zone but like every year,"the O-line" needs fixin' i back up cable, but only as long as he is coaching the RAIDERS. cable is RAIDERS to the heart but players aren't believing in the system. GRUDEN!!!!!

I think players of the modern era will play for a coach they respect, a coach they like and a coach that can get them to win. Any one or mix of all those three reasons.
In Gruden's case He's won the Super Bowl and I get the feeling the players like him and will play hard for him.
Also, I think Davis would re-hire him and Gruden would stipulate that Allen or defiantely a GM comes in too which seems to be sorely needed.
We'll see .. in all honestly I doubt it will happen. Gruden will be somewhere like Washington by the time Davis fires Cable (if He's going to) so he may not even be available to hire

what did happen to that GM, that mr al davis, said he supposedly had in plan? i bet it was parcells and he got caught up in miami. if it was john madden, well, he would have been anounced already. unless it's, who?
