Giants 5 wins straight and now they look terrible. Broncos 6-0 start and then they get whipped at home by the Steelers. Saints won because of a fumble on the opponents 3 yard line. For Detroit I am sure beating the Vikings would be like a Super Bowl victory for that franchise. This is a very dangerous game for Minnesota. They should win handily, but the Lions have played the Vikings tough the last couple of years. I AM THINKING THE SAME WAY, NO WAY this is a gimme game, division games are always more competitive, we need to come out focused and not let them get momentum or gain early confidence, we play disciplined football and we will win.

We've been brilliant in the passing game, really, but we need to win with fewer passes. I don't think Favre is going to struggle down the stretch like last season, but there is going to be fatigue setting in if he's averaging 40+ passes per game and getting sacked or knocked down several times a game. Chilly needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out how to generate more out of AD and the running game - it's been ok, but too many teams have been able to shut it down and put it on Favre to win the game. That being said, if we can keep Favre fresh, I think we've got an offense that no defense is going to stop. There are more problems on defense, but nothing major. I think if Winfield gets healthy again things will instantly look better. I think in some ways the dropoff in run defense is more of a concern than the pass defense. If we stop the run and force teams to pass, then JA and co will be able to bring the pressure and shut down the pass as well. We do need to be careful of blitzing, especially without Winfield - one thing that seems to have picked up over last year is coverage sacks. All that being said, I think this is the best Vikings team that we've seen since '98, and possibly better yet. I don't think we're 'lucky' to be 7-1, I think we're that good and we're going deep in the playoffs. Whatever happens, so far this is definitely the best season in recent memory. He is averaging 32 attempts per game but he threw 51 at Pitt. so he is not averaging 40+, you will see much more running of the football in the next three games as the quality of teams and the Bears having a weak D-line will dictate a heavier dose of smash mouth football,AP WILL GET A LOT OF REPS NEXT 3 WEEKS.

Baltimore has Strong points and huge gaping holes in their team. Same with the Steelers. If you want to get serious about this, they NFL Referee committee has still yet to rule on the phantom calls that changed the outcome of the the Vikings game against Steelers. The whole reason it's taking them so long to make a ruling on those calls is that they know the ref's made mistakes on them. Those two calls caused a 21 point shift in the score in favor of the Steelers. The "Defensive Delay of Game", a call that even Tomlin thought was ridiculous, gave the Steelers another set of downs that they scored on. The "Tripping" call on Dugan that all the commentators and instant replays showed was a bogus call took 7 off the board from the Vikings and the very next play the Steelers ran it back for 7. My hat is off to the Steelers on that game. They took advantage of the opportunities that were handed to them and pulled a win out of it. But even with those calls, all the penalties, and all the mistakes made, the Vikings still showed that they could march right down the field time and time again on the defending champions. Beware AFC Man, the Norsemen are coming. Old English Prayer: Deliver us, O Lord, from the fury of the Norsemen. For they are unstoppable. They ravage our lands and pillage our towns. There Hordes are strong and driven by rage. We plead for your divine intervention, as we are defenseless at their hands. Amen.

The Vikings need to run up the score on the Lions. Time to start sending a message. This teams time has come. Brutalize the kittens. More sacks, shut down Calvin, don't let this team hang around! SKOL

Erie, got to disagree with you here. The Vikes will put up record numbers against Detoilet. We might even get to see Jackson in the 4th quarter. Vikes will not take this game lightly, but will come out like champs, and administer a total butt whoopin. Wait and see!

I hope your right, I think we win but just don't take them lightly, but good point we should try and trounce them to let BF get some more rest.

I seriously doubt the Vikes could stay within 3 TDs of the Pats or Colts. Right now, the Saints are the top NFC Team which is not saying much.

It's been a string of high school teams, bye week, Lions, Rams, Browns,Packers, etc. The only team they played with credibility is the Steelers in which Favre floundered with a pick 6(nothing new) and a sack fumble returned for 6. I have the Vikes at or near #10 in the NFL. The Saints are around 6 or 7 and the top 6 are all AFC teams. In other words, it's just another downhill final 8 games for Favre like last year. The Vikes outplayed the Steelers in that game, and caught a couple bad breaks at the end to lose. I felt pretty good about their play, though, showed that they do have talent and can compete with the elite. Naturally, I'd like to see them dominate...which they have for short periods, but then they let up and let teams back in. So the point is, they have the potential- just need to sustain. I think the Vikes are improving, and will have a decent second half.'Any Given Sunday' is a concern, but from what I've seen, the Vikes can hold their own with any team this year. SKOL Baby!

Favre single handily lost that game just like his 12-10 playoff games with GB. Nothing has changed with the nickel & dime passer and the 1 yard TD passer.

Seriously guy, the REF's single handedly handed that game to the Steelers. Need I remind you of the 21 point shift in favor of Pittsburgh because of the incredibly blind-man home-cooking calls the Ref's made? Let me recap it for you there Packer Steve: Bad Call #1: "Defensive Delay of game" gave the Steelers a new set of downs that they scored on. Every replay showed, every commentator and even Tomlin himself said that was a bad call and they caught a break there. 7 points in favor of the Steelers. Bad Call #2: "Tripping" on Dugan that took 7 off the board from the Vikings. Again every replay and commentator said or showed that that was a phantom call. The very next play there's a tipped ball at the goal line and it gets run back the other way by the Steelers. 7 points taken from the Vikings and 7 awarded to Pittsburgh = 14 point shift in favor of the Steelers. So 21 point awarded to the Steelers gives them the win. Make those two calls reviewable and the Vikings win.

The team who's Q.B. cannot stand contact- the same team that lost to the Denver Donkeys??? O.K., the Dolts... Peyton Manning would probably put the Vikes defense to sleep with his before the snap playchanging- But the Vikes offense would roll over them! PLEASE get a clue before you post such foolishness again...

All I can remeber after waking out of a 33 year coma on Monday was Csonka running over Alan Paige and the purple people eaters to win the MVP in the 24-7 win over the Vikes.

my 0.02 worth...the Vikes are a good team in 2009, but I have them about 7 or 8 in the standings. I plan to watch the Colts/Pats and Manning/Brady game. 1 and 2, the rest, a distant 3rd-32

I've watched the mangement and the moves they've made and their excellent. Childress is a candidate for coach of year. Finally a guy who was made a plan, set a course and executed! Do you get that? Look at the team he has put together piece by piece. Ownership was willing to spend it but their wasnt a quarterback out there available, so Childress got on a plane, headed south, and talked a hall of fame passer to come out of retirement. Thats leadership people.
Of course we've shown second half struggles...why..because teams adjust at half time and change their game plan to counter the fact that their being dominated categorically. And then we still win ! Game over and the world knows we beat the Steelers !
