Can we hear more about the shooting in Stamford? What is the CT POST leaving out? I seem to remember the shooting was by a drug dealer. And right after being drafted by the Saint's, he went on a cocaine spree. Smoked dope. Wrote bad checks. Stole his friends income tax refund check. And then decided to rob a drug dealer. And he's called a local hero?

I SUGGEST YOU READ THE ARTICLE AGAIN. IT WAS TONY'S BROTHER,CARL, AND MYSELF, SPEAKING FROM OUR PERSPECTIVE. YOUR SUGGESTIONS ARE FOR ANOTHER STORY, ANOTHER TIME. YES THE MAN HAD HIS PROBLEMS, BUT I CAN TRULY SAY THAT WE HAVE A BETTER READ ON TONY ELLIOTT, THE MAN,THAN ANY OF YOU WILL EVER HAVE. PWILSON, I BELIEVE THE OPERATIVE WORD IS 'FOOTBALL' HERO, NOT HERO. YES, THOSE THINGS HAPPENED YEARS AGO,BUT THERE WAS A PART OF HIM THAT YOU NEVER EXPERIENCED.

I agree with Michael Dunham, P wilson among others will never know a certain part of Tony Elliott as a person....also I am with Joel Gonzalez, how about we release P Wilson's address to all of Tony's fans? So when P Wilson passes on the CT Post can include in his article how he got his ass kicked.

First of all Michael, thank you for sharing your perspective on Tony - those of us who knew and loved him personally do know a side of Tony that others will now never know. What I think bears remembering here is that Tony was an overcomer and despite all the obstacles that were put in life from childhood, still he rose and overcame and maintained a thirst for life. Of course, there will always be those that would like to dwell on the negative. To the gentlemen whose wife took care of Tony - thank your wife from the family. We all know that Tony can be difficult and a challenge to deal with - but please let your wife know that we are sure he appreciated her care and professionalism and if she had just once expressed that his behavior was causing her grief - he would have quickly adjusted his attitude and she would have seen the Tony we all know and loved - at least for the rest of that day! Tony - you will be missed.

For God's sake, the man just died. Why do you feel the need to go after him at a time like this?
I didn't know Tony but I saw him play while he was at Harding and he was a helluva ball player. If he was flawed and lead an imperfect life so be it. I'm sure you're familar with the biblical saying about he/she who is without sin casting the first stone.
You never seem to be at a loss for something to complain about so please move on to something else to vent your negativety on.

I played against Tony. Gifted athlete. Problem is that celebrities and athletes DO NOT WANT to be all of your role models. They are human too.

To all, I too worked for Tony when he lived in New Canaan and for a short time in Bridgeport. Never once was he disrepectful to me. In regards to what pwilson wrote, everyone has a pass, and it's just that the pass. In regards to frustrated in BPT. Any young person that ends up in a nursing home would be uncooperative. To the Elliott family, my prayers are with you. To those posting negative comments I pray that God places forgivness in your hearts. RIP!!! Tony~

So this is how civilized people respond? With the threat of death? I'm sorry but I can not call him a hero of any kind. I do not think he set a good example when it was needed. And the time to set the example was when he was on top. Of course I feel sorry for his family and their loss. But it gets very frustrating when this kind of thing happens and you know it could have been different.

WOW! THIS IS VERY SAD ON HOW PEOPLE ARE STILL BEING SO JUDGEMENTAL. I KNEW TONY ELLIOTT MYSELF. AND FOR ALL OF Y'ALL WHO WANTS TO TALK BAD ABOUT HIM, NEEDS TO GROW THE HELL UP AND GET A DAMN LIFE. THIS MAN DIDN'T ANY HARM TO NOBODY. Y'ALL ALWAYS THINK THAT Y'ALL ARE GOD OR SOMETHING. CAN'T NOBODY JUDGE TONY. HE WAS A VERY GOOD FOOTBALL PLAYER. AND I AGREE WITH THE ONE WHO MADE THE COMMENT ABOUT A YOUNG PERSON ENDING UP IN A NURSING HOME. I USE TO BE A NURSES AIDE. THE THINGS THAT THE PATIENTS HAS TO GO THROUGH IN A NURSING HOME IS UNREAL. THAT IS NOT A PLACE FOR NOBODY TO BE AT TO TELL YOU THE GOD HONEST TRUTH. IT'S VERY SAD WHEN YOU ARE USE TO DOING FOR YOURSELF AND THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN YOU CAN'T DO FOR YOURSELF NO LONGER BUT YOU HAVE TO DEPEND ON PEOPLE TO DO FOR YOU. WOULDN'T THAT MAKE YOU CRANKY TOO? YOU PEOPLE NEED TO STOP CRITICIZING AND START PRAYING FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY. WOW! LET THE MAN REST IN PEACE AND STOP RUNNING HIS NAME IN THE DIRT LIKE THIS. Y'ALL DON'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR TIME BUT TRY TO DOGGED PEOPLE NAME IN THE DIRT LIKE THAT. THAT'S NOT FAIR. LEAVE THIS DECEASED MAN ALONE AND LET HIM TAKE HIS REST. HIS JOURNEY IS NOW OVER WITH ON THIS EARTH. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. STOP ALL OF THE UNNCESSARY DRAMMA TALK AND FIND SOMETHING ELSE BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR TIME. MY HEART GOES OUT TO TONY ELLIOTT FAMILY. I PRAY THAT GOD WILL HEAL EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU DURING THIS TIME OF BEREAVEMENT.

There are very few things I complain about, if you read. Mostly having to do with the city now, and how things I remember being. I am older, and people now just dismiss things as if they don't care. This is leading to a break down in society. You can see it in Bridgeport. With crime, and politics. There are really true hero's in Bridgeport that never get mentioned. I am not negative. I am passionate.

But would you call him a hero to kids? Kids will think it's alright to do drugs and everything will work out. That is not real life. I pray for his family like anyone else. Can't you see my point? We need to hold up the true heros in front of our kids. If he had truly overcame his addiction, than I would say he is a hero.

Than you would understand my comments if you know that, that is all I have ever read about him in news papers. If the whole story would be told, than I would not have the opinion of him not being a hero.

As Anthony Robert Elliott's only biological sister I will share this comment regarding my brother: The name Anthony means priceless, and praiseworthy, and in life Tony lived up to the meaning of his name in many ways. To know my brother means you knew a man who took two steps up, to than sometimes took three steps back, life for him was no crystal stair, it had splinters, and tacks, and boards torn-up. Yet Anthony did strive to elevate himself. Please respect the family's wishes to grieve without having to deal with vicious gossip laced with malice. Truly many thanks goes out to positive comments regarding my brother. And to my Sister-in-Law Robbin, Thanks!

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Gemini

Mercury will backtrack through your finances over the next few weeks, which isn't a very seasonal thought if you're already well aware that you've overspent this month. Be prepared to do some juggling or to seek expert advice if you're worried about how you're going to cope. You may be kept busy handling inheritance, tax or insurance matters, preparing investment analysis, and allocating funds for the repayment or collection of debts.
