Has any coach in the history of the award ever deserved it more.

I don't think so.

Beligenius actuallt should be awarded it for the 2008 season just becuase he deserves it SO much.

oh but they wont have any video tape to watch and prepare to cheat because the league destroyed them all. i will say this, if the pats fall off next year and go 3-13 or something similar i will gladly say all these guys were right. but something tells me they wont. just a thought.

Congratulations to Bill Belichick. I'm sure he will look upon this honor with pride even though the Pats won't be at the Super Bowl this season. Unless, they buy tickets.

You left out the pictures of him after beating the Pats in the AFC Championship or winning the Super Bowl.

Shouldn't the coach of the year be the coach who did the best this season? So how does a guy who has the most talent in the league, cheats, and runs up the score deserve it? There are probably another 2-3 coaches in the league who accomplished much more than expected with a lot less.

i suppose tony dungy deserves it because of what he did with all the "injuries". get real, any coach that goes 16-0 is going to get it. still havent heard from any of you proof that they cheated. since the league never said it, regurgitating ignorant media outlets does not make it cheating. also i can cite at least 8 games from other teams that ran up the score. there is no mercy rule. besides the bengals have a ton of talent and have a crappy record. its the coach that brings the talent together, whether you believe that or not.

Lets say you are playing monopoly and you mis-count your roll so you don't land on someone else's property, that would be called breaking a rule. Because breaking this rule gave you an advantage it is called cheating.

I know you are going to say that the Pats did not gain an advantage because the tape was taken and all of their tapes were destroyed.

Going back to the monopoiy analogy, if you caught someone mis-counting and stopped them, they would not gain the advantage. That doesn't change the fact that they were caught cheating. This would also beg you to ask the question about whether this person had done this before, and you will question their integrity whenever you play another game with them.

This thought process holds true in any game. Even the game of football.

Now you will counter with it is a technicality that they can't tape from where they were caught, but can tape from other outlets where all teams do. Apparently the league thought it was important to not allow teams to tape except from approved areas. This was re-enforced with a memo before the season started. This may be due to the fact that the defensive coaches know where these approved outlets are and can shield their mouth and playcard from those areas. When the camera is located in an unknown position, the tape gives the opposing team an unfair advantage, thus cheating.

THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO THE REAL PETE: typical one sided hater. if you catch someone miscounting their roll in monopoly do you force them to forfeit the game? no. what is a better analogy is if you intend to murder someone, shoot them and they dont die, you cant be charged with murder. so forgetting the fact its legal to film signals, since they never got to see the video it cant be constituted as anything, including cheating. all it is, is a rule violation on camera placement. it was never and has never been illegal to tape signals. they were not penalized for what was on the tapes, they were penalized for how they obtained the information. its not a twist on words, its really in the rule book if you cared to do your research before talking.
also defensive coaches do not cover their mouths to call in plays. they dont have a headset connected to players on the field. they give HAND SIGNALS which can be obtained by turning your tevo on and recording the game live, watching reruns of the game during the week on nfl network or espn films.
i was watching a college game about a month ago when ucf was playing someone, i forget who. during the game the television camera was focused in so tight on the guy sending in the signals you could see the pimples on his face. not to mention he had a stand with two racks of numbers and just flipped one or the other so everyone on the field and the opposition's sideline could see. the announcer said "if i were [the other team] i would have someone on that right away." there was no complicated signal giving, just a number from 1-10 and thats the defense they played.
point being its always been acceptable to tape, steal and use defensive signals of the other team. teams, players and coaches have been violating rules for decades. i suppose you think reggie bush cheated at usc by breaking rules and accepting money.
your lack of football knowledge is infinite. to quote junior soprano "what you dont know could fill a book."
1] nothing on the tapes was illegal.
2] the tape in question was never viewed
3] there have been no accusations of this illegal camera placement by anyone other than fans who dont understand the rules
4] belichick is a DEFENSIVE coach and that is well documented. he won those other three superbowls with defense, not offense, so how all this cheating helped them is beyond me. defense wins championships, as proven in 2001 when the pats beat the "greatest show on turf." they had and have never been accused of knowing the other teams offensive plays, yet every year they rank very high in defense. this year they crushed the point differential total. that means great offense AND great defense. its the reason for the blowouts.
you can video tape from the endzone and point the camera right at the defensive guy giving signals, you can stand on the other sideline and watch, decipher and use what he is doing, you just cant film from the sideline for whatever reason, but from authorized locations, you can film anything you want. i have also never seen a guy giving signals try to shield themselves from anything. they stand as close to the field as possible and have their hands as high as possible giving the signs to 3/4 of the stadium, including the opposition.
and finally it is a technicality involving camera placement just like the rule book states. the rule is so simply put i believe if you bothered to go to it online, even you could understand it. its like saying the defensive players can move all over to disguise what they are going to do, run right up to the line of scrimmage to try to force movement but if an offensive line sneezes, they get a 5 yard penalty. the offense is forced to show their hand but the defense isnt. its a matter of the league saying you can tape signals from HERE but not THERE. thats exactly the way its written and was enforced. no more, no less.
