*** Ft Hood ***

Just want to take a moment to give my thoughts and prayers to those killed, injured and to their families and brothers in arms. An old friend and coworker of mine has a son who was just assigned to Ft Hood. He was not due for a deployment and the sheer size of Ft Hood puts the odds in his favor.

2Lt Kinney, be safe soldier.

Major Nidal Malik Hasan was the gunman.

I know how to watch the news Avant. Say something supportive or don't say anything at all.

Unfortunately a reminder that we are not guarenteed tomorrow.

My deepest sympathy to the family members and victims of this event.

Deepest sympathies to all involved including the family of the assailant.

What makes people do this shit!

Believe me, I have issues but....this stuff seems to happen more and more every day. I have a lot of anger towards things because I'm pretty sure I know what's really going on in the world but I can't imagine things being so out of whack that I'd just start taking people down.

Nice gesture, what a tragedy, when I was at Fort Dix doing A.B.G.D. there was a nut loose on the base threatening to shoot it up we had the whole base on shutdown till he was caught, luckily noone was hurt. God Bless.

To me this makes no sense at all. Why did he do it? That seems to be the question of life - WHY?

One very relieved family here. 2Lt Kinney was safe and sound 2 short but at the same time 2 very long blocks away.

Weirdly enough he was at Virginia Tech during that shooting. Fortunately tragedy keeps passing him by.

ABGD is now Combat Skills Training and its very rugged. Unfortunately this same training is also give to medical professionals like Maj Hasan where he learned how to handle small arms.

Wow really Stub, that was years ago when I took it but yeah it was a 4 week course of combat skills, I loved it but I WAS JUST a wee lad then, I am glad your friend is alright.

The more I read your posts, the more I can see why people dog you out. It's always convenient how someone mentions something you say you have it or done it.

so stupid no one ever has a weapon in these situations. When did the army become politically correct? there's a reason history has taught you need a homogenious fighting force. Fast tracking some nut job who id's himself as palastinian? nuts. Army shouldn't be about social justice. No homosexuals, no immigrants, no one who most members would not want to turn thier back to. Alexander the great, Ghengis Khan, etc., would never have done anything as stupid as this government & castrate our own fighting force. Homogenious. Everyone else can join americorps or whatever.

There is where I would like to put politians on the front line and let them fight.

I personnally believe that a president should be a veteren of the military. Not that they hold some magic knowledge that makes them better, just so they know or have a feel for the military.

I also think the current admin should call it what it is - a terrorist attack!

No.....I meant the fact that our own military is being weakened.

Did you hear that Hasan was supposedly having communications with a radical Muslim extremist overseas and that a report was given to a Investigative service?
