Smith, Kaepernick lead 49ers past Vikings 17-6

Not being able ro stop the run was surprising to see. the Vikes run defense sucked tonight The 49ers ran all over the Vikings.I know the 49ers was holding on some run plays & the refs didnt make the call but over all the Vikes run defense sucked tonight. I thought the Pass defense did a pretty good job other then the one TD by QB Smith, CB Carr never seen it & think CB Bowman should start over Carr in the next preseason game. Ponder looked better but he still needs calm down during a game He said his heart was racing. he needs to get past that.

Still have kind of a rookie coach, kind of a rookie QB, lots of new faces..........

........a bad game to be sure but I'm gonna give them until midseason to make some progress.

I can't honestly remember a meaningful preseason game. Ever.

I have us winning the first two games after that it's hard to find a win in the next 14.

I think Ponder made a two good drives the 49ers are one of the top defenses so driving down field like the Vikings did both times they had the ball was nice to see & they did it with vanilla plays. The defense couldnt stop the run but Ponder looked pretty good. The receivers had a few drops or his AVG would have been better.

The Vikngs has a good chance of beating the Jaguars, Colts, Titans, Redskins, Cardinals, Buccaneers, Seahawks, Rams That's a 8 win season & if they can win one game in the division it could be a 9 win season None of them 8 teams had a good season last year so theres a good chance the Vikes can win them games. Last season the Vikings was in 9 of the 13 loses & they lost them games by 7 points or less. I think there chances of going 8-8 are good. This team when looking at how many points they lost by & the scheduls line up going 8 - 8 is do able.

I didn't see the game....were the runs up the middle or around the ends? Where do we need to shore up...the D/L or the LBs?

The 49ers had 43 rushing plays Net rushing yards 260 total They ran up the midde & around the end There QB Kaepernick ran around the DE end for a 78 yard TD he was 3-92 yards running the ball. Smith the starting QB was 3 For 3 for 16 yards passing only one good pass to the corner of the endzone beating CB Chris Cook for the TD Cook never turned his head to see if the ball was coming.

The 49ers had 15 first downs rushing & 7 passing .

That was without Justin smith. He is one of the biggest keys to stopping the run

49ers third string QB Scott Tolzien is a VERY good west coast qb. He showed great zip on the ball and perfect ball placement. 10 for 13, 2 of the incompletions were drops and the third was a pick while he was hit while throwing. He needs to be the back up or could start for a few teams.

Well, there ya go. So much for defense being ahead of offense. With our WRs, we're not capable of winning high scoring shoot-outs....so someone better start finding some defensive players.

Yeah I thought the first comment was talking about the 9ers run defense at the beginning because the 49ers first unit have up more run yards than they usually do

I just hope the Vikings defense can get it together before the season starts.
