From what I saw...start Caleb Hanie. He outplayed Orton and Grossman combined. Why not, what would be worse?!?

I take Caleb Hanie's performance with a grain of salt. He's practice squad bound, like it or not. The big news coming out of the preseason opener is disturbing in regards to one who did NOT play, and might be sidelined for quite sometime. I'm very disturbed by the NFL Network story regarding top pick, offensive tackle Chris Williams, and news concerning surgery for a herniated disk in his back. For a team already with a myriad of questions, this is an early red flag for a team that I think will be hard pressed to win 6 games as they're structured. The Bears better think twice about possibly keeping only Kyle Orton & Rex Grossman on the opening day roster.

Typical Bears....Horrible Offense, Lovie expecting Defense and Special Teams to win the game. There is no Offensive game plan, no theory. Turner deserves blame as much as anyone. Grossman is not the core of the problem, neither is Orton. It's the total game planning and theory of the offense. Lovie and Turner want ball control, conservitive play. While our game breakers (Hester and Olsen) rot. Berrian was smart to get out of Chicago, his speed is no asset to the Bears.

Orton, Grossman both lackluster in preseason loss - Meanwhile, Kyle Orton fumbled, Rex Grossman stumbled

Gee, why am I not surprised. Both of these guys stink. I just can't understand why Jerry and Lovie stick with these clowns. Another year of crappy football. We'll be watching the Vikings in the playoffs.

ok so why on third down and 8 inside the cheifs 20 did Ron Turner call for a running play that had NO chance in hell of getting the 1st down. Why not give haine a shot at the endzone? So the pass goes incomplete, you can still kick the field goal and get the 3 points. Just typical Ron Turner play calling! He did the same kind of play calling at Illinois and turned then into the joke of the Big Ten. IMO this guy is the worst offensive coach in the NFL period!

Way to go Garrett. That was the type of running we saw every game at NIU.

This is a special player Chicago. You need this kind of heart on a team.

Lovie has to be the worst coach in the NFL. This offensive line should have been installed at this point in training camp. Everyone, but Smith knew that Metcalf has been a bust with the Bears. He should have been cut last year. Give Kirk Barton a change to play Lovie. You might be in for a big surprise, also Tyler Reed. Let these young men learn on the field in competition. I know you have the personality of a dish towel but try being more innovative and you might be sucessful.

I actually feel bad for Orton and especially Grossman. We could have Peyton Manning at QB and it wouldn't matter so long as we continue to employ Ron Turner. None of our QBs have a chance. I'm gonna vomit if I see another 3 yard pass to the flat. Forte looked OK, but I'm sure glad we took Williams over Mendenhall. Jeez. I'm not usually the knee-jerk reaction kinda guy, but... wow. Go Cubs! It's gonna be a long winter.

Caleb Hanie seems to be worth watching. If the rest of pre-season shakes out like tonight's game did, I'd say Grossman becomes the third-stringer behind Hanie and Orton, respectively.

I'm not going to be jumping on the Hanie bandwagon. However,he did seem poised, knew what he wanted to do,and I was impressed with his avoiding the sack on the games last play.Something Orton and Grossman are not known for-mobility.

way to go, garrett wolfe. he has more heart than all of the other bears combined. Lovie smith has to be the worst motivator.. He reminds me of past boring Bears coaches. drum drum.

Hanie did look impressive. However, it is just preseason and he was not playing against the best KC had to offer. I agree that the running play called on 3rd and 8 was "dumb", especially with Hanie showing a lot of leadership and completing passing plays on the drive, although his receivers dropped a couple of catchable balls. He did look poised. However, we have to wait and see how he performs throughout the preseason, if he gets any additional snaps. He is worth a look-see.

Hey it could be worse ! We could be the NY Jets who went 4-12 last year and now think they are going to the super bowl with an old washed up has- been quarterback . Does anyone remember how bad Favre has been the last 2 years ? Who cares where he goes. He will bring a superbowl to NY like Montana brought one to Kansas City a few years ago. Not.

What kind of medical staff do the Bears have that it would take two weeks to diagnose a herniated disc on Chris Williams rather than back spasams? Scary.

Are you kidding me? Did you catch *any* of the 2007 season, or were you watching NFL Europe by mistake?
