This sicko cop was on his high horse...got a black man in a escalade and screw the fact that someone is dying. Karma is a mother f----er. He will forever have to live with stoping someone from seeing their family die and not say good-bye. We don't need officers like this in this country. Same old crap, I got a badge and I'm going to do what I can. That police department has been tarnished by one bad white apple. That officer didn't allow her husband to say good-bye May the family find peace in this difficult time.

Unless I've missed an update to the story, I have 1 question??? What time was this family member pronounced dead??? Was she already dead when they arrived? Did she die 2 hours later and they still got a chance to say goodbye?? No that it matters though because the officer did not do anything wrong, However, that being said....
I would have taken the following steps:
1-driver provides a D/L to me before he goes into hospital
2-He gets patted down for weapons/contraband-not because of his race, but because of their unusual behavior
3-I walk to the room with him to verify the story
4-I use my discretion if he gets ticketed or not
Worst thing about this, is that his own Chief publicly said the officer was wrong. Paramount on any traffic stop is the Officers Safety. Next time the officer has an unusual situation will he second guess himself and be afraid of taking the proper actions? If I was this cop, I would never do another traffic stop for my career, not out of fear of the actual stop, but because I do not know if my own supervisors would support me
Finally a sensible comment AMEN!!
SHE PASSED AWAY WHEN THE OFFICER KEPT GOING ON AND ON IN THE PARKING LOT. SHE PASSED IN THE 13 MINUTES THE OFFICER KEPT HIM IN THE PARKING LOT. HE SHOULD OF JUST LET HIM GO INTO THE HOSPITAL AND GAVE HIM THE TICKET IN THERE OR BE NICE AND CONSIDERATE & NOT GIVE HIM A TICKET!

OH no....not another professional athlete not given VIP treatment. But here are my questions:
1) How many speeders make up excuses (i.e., lie to the police) why they "had to" speed?
2) How does a policeman tell the difference, on the spot, between a liar and someone with a legitmate reason to break the law (wait a minute...is there a legitamate reason to breaki the law, speed and risk the lives of innocent people?)
3) How does a policeman tell the difference, on the spot, between a distraugtht person and a drug crazed madman ?
4) And another thing, last I heard breast cancer does not strike without warning nor does the "end" come out of the blue. If they were so converned with their mother's health maybe they should have been at her bedside all along.
All I see is a police officer doing a very difficult and dangerous job and another celebrity claiming special treatment. Wah wah wah. I'm more concerned with the policman's saftey than someone who's out partying until the last minute before Mom passes on.

"I'm more concerned with the policeman’s safety than someone who's out partying until the last minute before Mom passes on.." ….You’re true idiot!!
It's easy. All was happening just by Hospital and two passengers went into a building despite officer's order, that along should say something to Him (and to You).

The man was doing his job. Why is this news? Because it happened to an NFL player? OOOOHH!! Big deal, and too bad.
It could have still done his job (you insenitive moroon) by either following them into the hospital and/or taking pertanent information, such as home address and mailing the ticket. Obviously, you've never experienced anyone in your immediate family dying in a hospital room.

The chief also praised Moats and his family for how they handled the officer's behavior.

"They exercised extraordinary patience, restraint, dealing with the behavior of our officer," Kunkle said. "At no time did Mr. Moats identify himself as an NFL football player or expect any kind of special consideration. He handled himself very, very well."

I saw the tape, and I have to say that perhaps if they had not been shouting and screaming at the officer, he might have been more willing to listen to them. They have my deepest sympathy, but I'm certain that if they had also handled the situation a bit better, things would have been different.
I know that white cops have a prejudice against black drivers, but this guy got out of his car and played right into the stereotype. Such a sad story, at least the daughter managed to make it in time in the end.
I'd love to see how calm you remain when your mother is dying. I'm guessing you would be the picture of tranquility as your mother lay dying just feet away. My goodness, even with video evidence that this police was a jerk you can still try to justify his behavior?

Asked at Thursday's news conference what officers are trained to do in such a situation, Kunkle said even someone with no police training should have known better than to do what Powell did.

"I don't know how you train for these circumstances, other than to hire people with common sense and good people skills," he said.

First, they are at an emergency room entrance. Next, the nurse comes out to assure the officer that this really is about someone dying. Then another policeman reinforces her point, and the officer who made the stop continues this nonsense for another 7 minutes like some kind of self-obsessed bureaucrat. No wonder so many people have a negative view of the police.

You get a call that your mom is dying right now and that you need to get to the hospital right away, and your advice is to "handle the situation a bit better"? The fact that the cop continued to write the ticket even after being informed of the situation is inexcusable. This is where cops are allowed to exercise something called 'discretion', which unfortunately black drivers don't seem to get too often from white Texas cops.

Yeah darn it. Those young people who have probably not experienced death of a close loved one did not behave perfectly. So that means the cop - presumably trained on how to deal with humans in emergency circumstances gets a walk.
It wasnt even his momma, he disobeyed the law, AND ignored the flashing POLICE lights behind him. No one, wether they have gone through "human training" or not, will react to any situation perfectly in EVERYONES eyes. Plain and simple.

Just like the African Immigrant who got 44 bullets because some white officers thought(afterthefact) that his cell phone may have been a weapon. Or, the black man celebrating his party before his wedding the next day in NYC when undercover white cops bum rushes the guy's in a car an open up with 50 bullets killing the Groom. It goes on an on. The problem is most white folks go along with this BS and stand by their race even though if a Black or Asian or Hispanic officers put 40+bullets into a white man they would have a fit; and, there would be retaliation against innocent citizens black, asian or hispanic by white cops around the country. America has a Double Standard. The Premise is White Skin in white peoples' heads mean Superiority over all non white races. It means whites are always right. They should always be president, boss, ruler; they always know everything. All non whites know this is pure hog sh$$T.

The guy broke the law, it's the cops job to do something about it. He pulls the guy over and gets a face full of screaming. When people that have committed a minor infraction and react disproportionately to the scope of the situation, cops with any experience get very nervous.

Cops will never just let you go because you yell at them, it works just the opposite. Cops also really don't care why you broke the law, it's not their job to care. They have heard every excuse in the book as to why they need to let a potential bad guy go.

Any time a police officer is approaching you with his gun drawn and he is yelling commands at you, do what the heck he tells you to do. If you choose to escalate the situation from that point, you flat out deserve to get shot.

The cop exercised proper restraint.

Daily Horoscope for February 13

Gemini

This is a good time to take stock of your actions and the direction you're going in. Are your efforts getting you anywhere or leading you astray and scattering your energy? If you're putting in the work but not moving forward, you're not on track. The old adage 'cut your coat according to your cloth' is good advice. Be simple and purposeful and don't waste time with things that get no practical results.
