Just trying to find something to get excited about around here on the local sports scene. It really sucks this year. Can't wait for ACC B-ball to start. terps have have two freshman that were top 50 players and the Terps are ranked in the pre season top 20 in some polls. Considering that MD usually gets better as the season rolls on, thsi should be an exciting year.

What I don't get is that when Coach Fridge is ready to retire, they are bringing on the OC Franklin??? as Head Coach. What the heck, the offense sucks, so why is it going to get better when the OC takes over as HC?

It sends mixed messages to the current players and potential recruits. The offense has been far worse this year, when many thought it should have been better (even without Heyward-Bey), given Turner was in the system a full year and the emergence of DaRel Scott and Meggett.

I am really just disgusted with all of it. I hope they give O'Brien a chance at QB. I watched his films from H.S. and he has a cannon for an arm.I also hear from some of his h.s. folks that he has a brain and can actually learn the playbook. I'd love for MD just too fire the whole staff and start over. There is no way that THE football university in the State should be this bad. On a brighter note, the cable channel CBS College Gameday channel shows all of the service academy games every week. I love watching Navy play. I have seen every game for the past two-three seasons. Navy is are so undersized and yet they kick ass every week, even when they lost against Ohio State (by 4 at O.S.U.) and Pitt. They will never get any respct in the rankings, even though their qb leads the nation in many rushing categories and their scoring offense is one of the best in the country. Navy's qb's did an outsanding job of containing ND's high output recievers in Navy's win last week. Hmmmmm, maybe the Raven's should look at those guys, ha,ha.

Always enjoy seeing them win, especially against big-bad Notre Dame.

Sounds like Turner is injured/or on the bench for the Va Tech game.

Well, hopefully, he is getting a degree. Rob, you know us Ravens fans are beating ourselves up over the lack of our defense defending and all the penalties thrown in to boot. Seems they've been melting down. If you would have said to me prior to the game that we'd hold cincy to 17 points, with Carson Palmer and all his weapons, I would have taken that...and of course still lost. I see much of the problem on the other side of the ball and the slow starting lackadaisical play. This is not just a defensive problem. The O has to pick up the D. It seems we can't even score a TD until the second half. Look at the Denver game, the Cincy game and, for the most part, the Minnesota game where we didn't get into rhythm until 5 minutes left. If the O steps it up, the D gets a breath of fresh air and we're not constantly on our heals. Just my humble opinion. You watch Roethlisberger and I've never seen him slow down, the guy must be on amphetamines, moving 200 MPH trying to make a play at all times. Flacco, if anything, is almost too cool.

The new (Franklin) OC has been dissapointing for the Terps too...if he is the coach in waiting -- I'd rather wait for someone else :) Hopefully the young kid starting tomorrow may surprise us for the Terps...Turner had his chances, but I am sure Va Tech is wanting to make a statement in this one.

Roethlisberger moves quickly, he's always looking to make a play. I think as Flacco gets more comfortable, he'll move around more. Big Ben has worked with Ward and Holmes for a number of years, so there is an element of comfort in knowing guys will find ways to get down field.

Why is that the steelers do not play the colts or new england at all this year? their schedule is pretty much in their favor and they really should be undefeated

YOUR COLLEGE TEACHER wrote: Why is that the steelers do not play the colts or new england at all this year? their schedule is pretty much in their favor and they really should be undefeated pretty simple answer- The Steelers, along with the Ravens, Bengals and Browns, play each other twice, they each play teams in the AFC West and the NFC North this year. That leaves 2 at large games based on last years success. The Steelers, having won the division last year, must also play 2 division winners, which they do in TN and Mia. The thing is, TN and MIA stink this year so the fact the Ravens have to play NE (which didn't make the playoffs ly) and the Colts, make it look disparaging. It is pretty much fair as it is luck of the draw.

It's hard to believe...but it could work out for us. With our games left, if we can tie the Den or SD or top the steelers we're in the wild card.
