If Bill Cowher were still the head coach of the Steelers, Chukky Okobi, Chidi Iwuoma and Verron Haynes would probably not have been cut. via Pittsburgh Tribune

Haynes is a good back, and in fact, he's a better back now than Gary Russell is. BUT, they were right to keep Russell over Haynes, because Haynes' upside is pretty limited and Russell is going to be something really special. As a college back, he gained over a thousand yards running BEHIND Lawrence Maroney, and he seems to have put his screw-ups behind him. I love the way Russell hits the hole without a MOMENT'S hesitation--he just gets the ball and BAM! This is going to look like a very wise move a year or two down the road (maybe sooner).

I agree that Haynes was a good back I also agree that Russell will be better. I guess they figure that Davenport is there 3rd down back and why keep a backup third down back. Also if Willie gets injured someone will have to help Davenport carry the load and both Russell and Davis are better ball carriers than Haynes. I have a feeling we are going to need all of those guys this year. My question is what the f did they get rid of Chidi for????
Hear, hear. Chidi seems to be the only blunder in putting together this roster. There's a good article in this morning's Trib about it. Mike Prisuta seems to feel that at some point Tomlin will see the error of his ways and get Chidi back. But who says we're going to be lucky enough to do that a second time? Get rid of Willie Reid or Brian St. Pierre and get back one of the best special teams players in the NFL!!

I think our running game is going to be pretty good this year. Plus with Ben throwing more, we are going to be a team to beat this season.
