Five keys for the Vikings to make a championship run

A play or two in key games using the Cat will be fine, agree with civitas tho, it would be cool to see some trick plays, maybe when Berrian is full speed. How about a bubble screen to Harvin.

Injuries are always a factor. I think it's pretty obvious that this team isn't going anywhere without Bret Favre. Luckily he's a pretty tough guy and likely to be there at the end. That being said they desperately need some pass defense. If a receiver makes a great catch just barely out of reach of the defender that's no big deal. These receivers are good athletes and they're going to make some catches on you. However, when you don't have a defender within 5yds of the catch either the defender blew his assignment or there's something wrong with the coverage scheme. If they ever get there coverage problems figured out they're going to be tough to beat.

when this QB adventure started the agreement was the RB would carry the load 35 carries a game and the old goat would only have to toss it 20 times a game. well that's not working as a matter a fact its just the opposite. this is a recipie for failure because we all know the old goat will toss a key interception in a key game at a key time to rip our hearts out again. i for one will not fall for this ploy.

He is averaging exactly 32 attempts per game which is a lot but he threw the ball a lot in two games which inflates this stat. He is around 26-28 a game, a bit too much but he can handle it.

With Brett just getting up to speed, there may be more twists to this offense yet to come. AD has shown pretty good hands, along with Harvin, Sidney, and a healthy Bernard, we have weapons everywhere. As long as Brett makes good decisions, this offense will be a fine tuned 454 just looking for some highway to open it up. Our defense needs to dominate the whole game, and get rid of those total collapses they have shown flashes of.
If our defense can even play as well as last year, our offense is a whole different animal now. Keeping the Vikings under 21 points won't be an easy task this year.

I know where this really big rock is, you can go hide under it.

right now sidney rice is doing what bobby wade did in the past. he is the "go to" guy for brett favre. sidney is no doubt getting the biggest plays on offense. get the ball in his hands.

I think the fact that the Vikings are throwing the ball a lot is directly related to the fact that the defenses are still sitting on Adrian Peterson and the running game. Last year when defenses keyed on the running game there was nothing we could do about it. This year Bret Farve is able to take advantage when they fill up the box. You have to take what the defense gives you. Last year we couldn't. This year we can.

The only way this team is going to make a long postseason run is with a NEW HEAD COACH. Klink is clueless.

LOL green bay lost to Tampa Bay A ROOKIE QB...> VIKINGS WIN THE NORTH! Aaron puts the yards up ,. but some guys just isnt a winer & he isnt .,hes a 2nd string QB that puts up big yards & looks good on paper but thats about it. What is he now as a starter something like 10 & 10 not every good at all, Any other team would have pulled him by now, But the pack will keep the guy a bad choice., as there draft picks the last 4 years have been bad., going to a 3 - 4 was bad choice & so is keeping there coach just bad choices.>> GO VIKINGS

I would really like to see the offensive line gap more holes for AP. Otherwise, the smart teams are going to figure out the short passing game. May not be during the regular season. However, in a playoff game, underdogs as they will be, they might be able to faint the run stop with 8 men on the line, to concentrate on stopping Favre and his short passing game. And the defense is going to have to show-up in the 3rd and 4th quarters to help out. I'm pretty excited though.

Forget the damn wildcat, huge mistake, every time they've tried anything close to that this season it hasn't worked and they are too good to have to resort to that type of offense.

Packer under Rogers, 10 wins 14 losses. Under Favre for 16 seasons, they had just one losing season. Rogers will most likely be two for two this year as i predict an even bigger collapse as they still have to play the Steelers and the Ravens. (LOL) Also, check how many losing seasons they had the preceeding 16 seasons (before favre), I'm sure it was something like over 80% or more, although I didn't check those stats. Favre's a winner pure and simple. Packer fans are way to quick to forget the 70's and 80's, or else there would be no way they would have booed someone who gave them so much for so many years.

Harvin needs to touch the ball more especially as a running back. If you watch his highlights from college some of his best plays were as a running back. Also I would love to see Winfield move to Safety someday I think he would be spectacular back there. Go Vikes!!!

All this talk about the wildcat... There have been so many articles written by leading sportswriters on this subject in just the past few weeks.

Consensus --- it has been a failure for everyone but the Dolphins.

Interesting to note -- when the Dolphins run it, they do it with a true QB who not only can pass, but is a skilled runner as well. When other teams try it, it's generally with a RB. No thanks. That's a turnover waiting to happen.

If the Vikes are going to spice things up with a little playcalling trickery, there are lots of other things they can work in before messing with that wildcat.

As for Harvin, he's not only banged up already, but he's proven to be a very good open space runner. Why risk giving him the ball in the backfield with all those d-linemen and linebackers surrounding him? I'd rather keep him safe by throwing to him downfield where he'll square off against d-backs more his size. Notice the Vikings haven't used him in a rushing play since the 2nd or 3rd week.

I'd rather they keep him out of those sets to preserve his already banged up body for the playoffs.
