I agree that the driver of the car who hit Mr. Reagor should be ticketed, but why is he not being ticketed for not wearing his seat belt? I thought that it's a state law that you must wear your seat belt. Just because he's a Colt player doesn't mean he should be treated any differently than anyone else caught not wearing a seat belt.

Does the law require those driving trucks (which an SUV would fall under) to wear seatbelts? I thought it was just small passenger autos. If not than he shouldn't be ticketed.

Regardless, it's pretty stupid to not wear your seat belt. Especially when you are in a profession where so much is dependent on your health and well-being.

Ticketed by law enforcement: no.
Ticketed by common sense: yes.

I'm so glad that Montae seems to be ok, but Indiana, like Maine - where I now live - has a seat belt law for a good reason. While its a little early to discuss consequences, let me be one of the first - if not the first - to ask that the police make public a citation to Reagor for not wearing his seatbelt. I personally think the Colts should dock his pay for suffering a non-football injuy even if he was on his way to the stadium. If not, then the Colts should strongly suggest to Montae that he make a public apology for not wearing his seatbelt and encourage others to do so while including himself in that category. After all, Montae and us Colts fans are very fortunate that Reagor didn't become Rigor. We need him as a player and a person.

It is not the law that he wears a seatbelt in a truck - and an SUV is a truck if he had truck plates on it.

Ok, give him the ticket for not wearing a seatbelt (which I don't think he has to in a SUV with truck plates).
But he can recoup that when he sues!!

I think it is now time to put a traffic light at the intersection heading to south bound 465. I travel that way to work everyday and I see near misses there all the time. It is rediculous the ammount of traffic that comes through that intersection and there is no light. Come on Indy, that is a major intersection going to 465, IT NEEDS A LIGHT!!!

Come on everybody... I am sick of hearing about the stupid seatbelt. Yesterday, when the breaking news came on they were making a big deal about the seatbelt. I am more conrnced about Reagor in the hospital. He did not cause the accident... I know a lot of people (and I am in law enforecment...) and many many police officers that have trucks or SUVS w/out truck plates DO NOT WEAR THEIR SEATBELTS. I have never heard of ticketing someone for a seatbelt violation when they sustained injury, it was not their fault, and are in the hospital.

With all of the bone head idiots in this great country of ours why would you "The Indianapolis Star" give out the name of the person that hit reagor? A lack of class on your part.

First of all, they would print the name of the person who hit him because it is public record, and she did commit a crime and was cited for it.
Second, while indiana does appear to have some ludicrous law exempting truck/suv drivers from seatbelt use (i guess the thought is, if you drive a truck or an SUV, we don't care if you fly through your windshied, get ejected through your sunroof or get broken bones from your airbags), i am irritated that someone who is supposed to be a role model was caught doing something so dangerous.
this same weekend, a teenaged girl died because she wasn't wearing her seatbelt, and every one is appalled at her parents for not teaching her better. But look at this professional football player; he did it, and he survived...so it must be okay.

It's also against the law to transport illegal drugs and endanger the public through reckless use of a firearm, but evidently if you're a professional athlete in this city, the laws don't apply.

You all have forgotten one thing. What was he doing out at the facility a couple of hours before game time?? The team stays downtown at a hotel to make sure that everyone obeys curfew and team rules. So what was he doing over there??

How irresonsible of the Colts and Raegor! To be out at 1 pm before a game and breaking the law at the same time. I'm going to turn in my season tickets and personally write a letter to the Simon's...err, Irsay. I'm also going to request that the police DNA test his seat belt to see if he's ever touched it.
