Vikings' Shiancoe ready to roll, not talk

Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe is remarkably upbeat for a fellow who slipped down a black hole in the Vikings' Kick-Ass Offense last year.

Good God.....can Shiancoe be setting himself up for more ridicule than this column? The team is amped up to go, everyone is on the same page, he went from apparently being a fat load to a new, svelt Zeus like body, "everyone is on the same page" etc.; all following remarks/body language which seems to suggest his coach and team just didn't give him his due last year. He was open last year but maybe could have been open a little more? Well let me tell one and all that I will be the first bloke on the block dropping the hammer on Shiancoe, Ziggy and Childress should this very expensive experiment fail again this year. Having an athletic TE who can move the chains and catch the occassional TD is an important variable to any decent offense and the Vikes rolled the dice in betting this unproven guy was the man for the job. By all accounts, there should be no excuse for another dismal year from him and I for one, will be keeping close tabs.

More weapons more touchdowns. Tavaris Jackson and the viking offense will be unstoppable.

Thanks Abe. I'm sure they feel your hot breath on their necks.

Another sterling column by the master of the backhanded insult.

This is Shiancoe's make or break year. Based on his performamce last year and the drops in the end zone, it appears he could be another head case like Williamson.

Either he was trying to hard last year and not relaxed enough to make those grabs or his failures build and he is out the door. I hope he was just pressing last year, but we will all find out his year.

Interesting how he talks about being wide open, Williamson was too and neither of them could catch a cold let alone a football. This guy was a loser with the Giants and is a loser here so far.
I'd rather see more of Garrett Mills, if the Denver game was any indication, Mills could be uncovered a lot as teams have to worry about AD and Berrian. Bellichek if you recall, threw a temper tantrum when the Vikes signed Mills off of their parctice squad. Get the ball to Mills Childress, to heck with this 18 million Shiancoe loser. Where is all the press about Mills???????

Wiggins didn't like Childress, so he was shown the door. He hasn't really made anything of himself since, so it isn't a huge loss.

Anyways, somebody beat me to mentioning Shiancoe's dropped TD passes. That changed the course of at least one game, and that one game could have meant the playoffs. It wasn't even that difficult of a catch. He better make those grabs this season.

I agree with the Garret Mills proposal though. He did very well in the Denver game, well enough that he should be tested out in the offense a bit more often.

The receivers know what the quarterback is going to do. The quarterback knows what the receivers are going to do."

I just wish the quarterback knew what the quarterback was going to do. But we'll see.

WOW...way to fire a shot across T.J.'s bow...what the hell, maby it'll fire his a$$ up but you better catch the damn ball when it hits you in the hands...if not we already know Jacksonville is giving up free draft picks for stone handed losers... do your damn job or you'll be leaving another team the year befor they win it all...GO QUEENS

Currently, his contract is 5 years $18.2 Million. He's averaging 1 TD a year. At this sizzling rate its $3.64 million per TD.

I'd shut up if I was Shiancoe. Maybe strive for 2 TD's per year and play out his contract and hope for an extension.

Norman Vincent Peale, the power of positive thinking. Guys, get the book and stop with Bush administration like negativity.

Shiancoe will be productive receiver for our super bowl bound minnesota vikings.

Shiancoe can't be dropping TD passes like he did last year. The KC game was brutal. I guess that was Jackson's fault as well. It's actually unreal he went 8-4 his first year with Shanko and Magoo Williamson.

Yeah like your keeping close tabs is going to matter. Shut your pie hole and enjoy the ride on the purple wagon.

I'm not going to become negative nancy, but I am worried about how hyped up the team is this year. With all these predictions (break the personal sack reckord, etc) I could see people being dissapointed even if the Vikings have a decent year. I for one am staying down to earth. The team should improve some. They could possably win the division but it's not quarenteed. I certainly don't see a superbowl this year. HOWEVER, I think there should still be some exciting moments this season. I am looking forward to this year, but I won't become dissapointed by expecting too much.

If you don't aim for it you usually do not get it. Talk it up. It is a win-win situation. Zygi expects to win and if we do, great and give the staff, players and coaches adn Zygi credit. If the ofense looks as bad as it did last year except for having the best 1-2 running backs in the NFL, and we don't get anywhere because of the offense, well its time to show the offensive guru the door.

LOL. I was thinking the same thing but when I see it in print I have to change my opinion. Get excited. Be happy. We have been waiting years for a team with this much potential. TWT on how we finish the season but let's be postitive; it's only minicamp for crying out loud. GO VIKINGS!

Mike I couldn't agree more. Remember the days when we had 9 pro-bowlers and didn't make the playoffs! It takes more than individual players to make a team. Chemistry has a lot to do with a football teams.
