Bears must stay hungry

Still in his uniform, defensive end Alex Brown grabbed a chicken strip off the postgame buffet Sunday before stepping into the locker room following the Bears' easy 34-7 victory over the Lions.

Just so everyone is clear, the Lions stink. Aaron Rodgers is not Brett Farve and neither is Taveres Jackson.
As I said before, the Bears have a decent chance to make the playoffs, and then it comes down to beating those teams. The Bears still have no answer for a power running team, and still don't get enough pressure on the quarterback.
Playing with 7 men fronts is not helping. Urlacher should play off the line, and when you need a blitzer, stick with Manning.
Manning is only good at returning and blitzing. He has the speed and size to make it happen.

To be sure, Detroit isn't much of a test, but when facing a team like that, good teams are supposed to kick their ashes, which is just what the Bears did.
From the looks of the division, it isn't going to take much for the Bears to get into the post-season. Of course what happens after that is dependent on the old "any given day" rule.
Orton haters take note: quarterback rating of 122 isn't garbage.
If Rex had tried that little romp for a first down, he would have beeen hauled off on a stretcher. Speaking of which, didn't Rexie look cute during the last few minutes in his unsoiled uniform?

You never listened to the Cowboys then. Going into every season, they talk it up like they're going to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. This from a team that hasn't won in the postseason since, what, 1994?

I took pleasure in seeing Rex on the sidelines looking like a guy who they let out from a sanitarium. The Rex bashing is based on Coach Smith's stupid opinion that Rex belongs in the NFL. He could have stopped the bashing him by dumpng him.
And why ruin Caleb's development? Caleb should have been suited as number 2 and if they wanted to kill a few minutes with the backup it could have been Caleb getting his feet wet.

Lol....the difference is, the Cowboys goal is 2 win the Superbowl every year. The Bears goal is 2 make the playoffs. See the difference?

Yes the Bears beat a poorly matched Lions team but did so coming off a big win over Philly, arguably one of the best teams in the NFC. We have played well all season and against different looks. I never liked Turner and he is beginning to impress and I was never sold on Babich after last season and he is doing what it takes. These last four weeks have certainly brought this team to a good place mentally and you all can nit-pick all you want but at the end of the day it is on to the Falcons next week. We will see how we fair against their run and we will see how Orton continues to progress and every week is an adjustment for the coaching staff so we will see if they can continue to do the right thing. No it isn't playoff time but you have to give credit to a team and coaching staff that wasn't picked to do what they are doing. Sorry for the ramble.

REtards! We played the lIons for god sakes. The worst ever team in the NFC north!!! Any QB playing against the lions would have a spectacular day like Orton did.. Lions defense was no where to be found, and Orton had wide open receivers to pass. Give me a break, you call that a test!!! Im glad we won, and for those who are bashing REX, screw you! Wait till Orton gets plowed to the ground next time and leaves the game. YOu will see, why Rex is betta than ORton. Plus why didnt they put REX in to play the full 4th quarter????? Hmmm..maybe the coaches didn't want to embarrass Orton or themselves knowing REx is betta!

My God. Still with the Wrecks thing. What does Orton have to do to get people off his back ? Run for two hundred yards and kick a 90 field goal ? They were some nice handoffs by Wrecks though .....

So basically you're a Rex fan and not a Chicago Bears fan... Would you rather have Orton stink it up so you could rationalize your Love for Rex ?

Instead of posting to the Trib on Bears topics why don't you start a support group for Rex on the web so you guys can fight over who loves Rex more and discuss how Rex is the best quarterback in the entire history of the world...

Aside from Hester's fumble, that was about as perfect a game as I've seen the Bears play in at least three years. Yes, that includes the Super Bowl year. Remember, the offense was quite bad for the last 3/4 of that year. If not for the stellar defense, they probably wouldn't have even made the playoffs. Their game against the Lions was about as solidly played on both sides of the ball as any team could hope for. Awesome.

I think you have it backwards - the defense was bad in the second half of '06 after Tommie Harris and Mike Brown were injured. I recall a Tampa game around Christmas when Joey Galloway had about 900 yards receiving. The offense did enough with Thomas Jones and Grossman to get to the Superbowl, but the defense was not playing consistently well after October.

Bill,

a response is not necessary! hahaha. i will admit i am one of those few rex supporters out there, however, i am a bears fans first. as long as kyle is playing good, which he is (come on, 300+ yards = good, perhaps spectacular, depending on the opponents) then i will support kyle and cheer him on. until then, rex can grab some bench and wait his turn. if he does get a chance, i know he'll perform just as well. but for now, let's go kyle "the neckbeard" orton!

What are you talking about, im a bears fan first also, I'm just saying how stupid the coaches were for playing Orton through most of the 4th quarter, what happens if he got hurt , who will take the blame? Rex should have had a shot to play out the whole 4th. I like what Orton did but REx deserves a shot also, what had we to lose? Im not hating on Orton, just making a valid point, if you can't understand that then go suck on Ortons Nuts!

Yes, it was just the Lions but the Bears played well. Here's a little FYI -- the Lions had given up 30+ points in all their games this year. Bears matched that. However, the Lions were able to get 300+ yards in 2 games and 240 in the other while da Bears held them to 185 yds and their lowest point total.

Other than that, look for me at the game Sunday down here. I'll be the guy in the Bears hat next to the guy in a Bears hat!

Living in northern Wisconsin (and not being able to get away to my favorite "Bear Bar" Sunday), I had to watch the Packer game, so I was biting my nails to the quick until I saw the Bear points racking up on the highlights.

Great game, guys, but against a lousy team. Watch these Falcons 'cause they're hungry .... just like David Haugh says, let's hope the Bears are hungrier 'cause I hear falcon tastes just like chicken --- yum!

You get 16 Chances to do well in a Season. And this ain't fishing where you throw back the little 1's. The NFC East is a "Beast" of a conference, and the Bears will probably have to win the NFC North just to get into the playoffs. I just hope we are not "ruing" the games we lost earlier this season.
I like the way the team is playing, and how LOVIE has grabbed these guys attention, I hope the Bears win this week, no injuries and enjoy the following week off.
Go Bears!
