He doesn’t look like a 'killer' to me, but I’m extremely biased. Honestly, I think this breed only looks mean to those who fear it because of the bad rap it gets. A Pit looks no more threatening than a Rottweiler, Doberman, Mastiff, Ridgeback, etc.
i got took some pics of him tilting his head when asked if he wants a treat but i dont have the courage to develop the roll because i cry over him too much. this is why i get irritated when people bash the breed. i think of him and just vent. what happened to him is just hard to talk about.

my dog seems to go after anything that runs, deer, coyote or cat, or anything else.

she's chased black cats, tabbies and calicos, dunno if that will help your study?

Hey im back at this one... Could you tell me what color the cat was that got attacked?
Im doing a study on that.. Ive been noticing a trend in dog attacks on cats.. And there really isnt any data on it..
Ive tried using my dogs.. But being how they are trained.. They just wont react to a cat... Or even a squirrel.. Unless its play time and that just doesnt help...
kind of reminds me about the thought that horses are supposed to be colour blind. i had one that could not abide red hats, of any shape. wear any other colour and no problem - wear a red hat, and he ran like heck. considering red is the same tone on the greyscale as black, and that red on any other shape didn't bother him, it made me think that the colour blind theory is simply that - a theory.

Well,, yes and no.. Dog react to any quick movement.. But we come to notice that all white cats.. Dogs dont seem to notice as much..
If we could train cats not to run.. They would be all set.. Walk away calmly.. lol..
Or unless its my cat.. attack head on!

I wish more people would tell their stories because there are so many like yours. On this blog, those who truly care and know the Pit Bull Terrier are the majority.(That is rare for 'Pit attacks' topics.)
Many don't want to admit that Pits are not the problem. The problem is a combination of what cruel humans have done to the dog breed (many are mixes), the false attack reports that the media loves to report but rarely corrects and animal abuse in general.
With the right owners, Pit Bulls and Pit mixes are sweet, loyal, and amazing dogs.
Thanks I appreciate that. I was a proud pit bull owner. I always will be. Like I said if I had the chance I would get another.

looks like a dreaded killer doesnt he? that shirt in the background was the only thing he ever tore up in his 3 1/2 year life. i admit he had 1 problem , jumping on you and slobbering with kisses.
He's cute. He almost looks like my deceased one. Mine was a female. Her name was Chelsea. She was a great dog. I really miss her.

I had one that was very special, she died due to a misdiagnosis. They thought it was a stomach virus. For five months I took her back and forth, kept asking for more tests. Finally they found cancer. When I lost her, I was (still am to some extent) angry because if extensive testing had been performed, she would have had a very good chance of surviving the disease.

To me losing an animal is losing a part of my family because they are. Not the same as humans of course, but it hurts.

After what you've said, I'm wondering if the dog thought the furry little cat was a squirrel. My dogs leaved very early in life, a sharp swat to the nose by cat claws hurts. I hope they don't forget it.

white, eh? interesting. there's hardly any white cats anywhere around here, so i don't have a personal experience to share with you unfortunately...
light coloured cats are usually the first ones caught by eagles and hawks, because they are so easily seen, so that might be why they never last long around here.

the closest i own, and have owned to white, are siamese, and all of them, like your cat, has every dog for miles cowering in terror lol!!!

Are we talking what to do durring a dog attack now?
Ive been attacked... Now for the most part it was a set up.. I knew the dog was going to attack.. And put myself there...
But i have once in my life been attacked while on a walk through the park with one of my dogs.. Thank goodness she was (my dog) well trained and trusted me. Or there would of been a battle..
However since she is partly for protection if i thought at any time i thought i was going to get out of it..I woudld of called her in to help..
For fact.. I take one of my dogs each time. When im going to check out a dog that is "aggresive".
If being attacked.. Number one thing not to do.. Is yell or make direct eye contact.. And dont move your lips.. Dogs do not understand smiles..
A dog in a aggressive mood will take this as a snarl. If the dog clamps on. Bites in.. Never pull away.. Most people get bit because the pull..Push into it. cover the nose if you can.. But push.. Of course child or elderly person cant do this..
If you are witnessing a dog attack.. Dont go over and bash the dog.. It will cause them to bite harder or shake their heads.. Or even let go and grab you.. If there is a hose,, hose the dog directly in the face, nostrels if possible.. a fire extinqisher will have the same affect..
Beware mace carries, this does not work on all dogs..
Last chance.. If you think the person is going to die, And your willing,, clap your hands, and worse this is very dangerous you may end up in the same spot.. Tried to cover the dogs nose, head.
IF THE DOG HAS A PERSONS ARM, LEG NOT THE NECK OR HEAD... CALL 911... DAMN JUST CALL 911...
all moves are dangerous... Ive seen even the biggest strongest man go down.. My shep. being one that took him down...(and he was well trained)... And i have whites which are smaller then other shephards..
Dogs that attack need to removed from there owners.. Depending on the case in hand..
Dogs that attack repeatedly.. And im a dog lover here.. Need to be put down..
Again NO DOG IS WORTH MORE THAN A HUMAN...
Depends on the human and depends on the dog. There are a lot of humans in this world not worth near what my dog is.

crazy uncle, i am also one of the biggest anti-animal abuse ppl around (and i don't mean complaining about a choke chain - i mean i have dealt with animals that have suffered serious abuse - i am not going to sicken anyone here with details, many times being left for dead after what was done to them)- but what i have sadly learnt from working with too many dogs to recall over the years, is the addage about "drawing first blood" is in most cases, only too true.

a dog that has attacked, drawn and tasted blood once, is mre often than not, going to do it again. it seems to hit at something wild buried deep in their natural instincts, and very few rehabilitate after this. i would have a dog put down that has seriously attacked a human in this manner.

however, i would not focus on a breed of dog because of this, like many do, but on the individual dog. yes - there are ppl out there that are worth less than feces, there are ppl out there that abuse animals in the most dispicable ways imaginable and turn them into killers.

however, there are just as many good, responsible breeders and owners too.

its a real pity that animals and decent folk alike have to pay the price for animals that are ill bred and abused by humans.

Animal abuse is out of control. Why? Because it's been allowed.

Civilized society is now fed up with the injustices being ignored. People are beginning to stand up for what is right and demand even the Bubba and Barney justice systems enforce the laws. Even if a person is not an animal lover they CANNOT agree with, or excuse, what is going on in mills and in neighborhoods..maybe their neighborhood.

When you hear of an abuse case, join in with the HS, SPCA in your area and demand the sadistic criminals be sent to jail. Animal abuse and crimes against humans go hand in hand. EVERYONE needs to stop being quiet and detached from these cases! It only take time and speaking out to put a stop to the torture, neglect, abuse and killings by worthless sub humans.

This kind of perverted abuse is becoming more common. These two prove what has been widely stated. Animal abuse and crimes against humans go hand in hand.

"Both suspects have a history of trouble with the law. Hathaway was out on bond on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated burglary. Boykin pleaded guilty to attempted voluntary manslaughter in 2007 for an incident in which he told police he hid in a trash can for hours before shooting a man in the leg.

If the HS and support group had not turned out, both would have gotten a minimun bail. I think we are going to see a turn in how these cases are judged. I hope so!

Right now I'm so angry, I say 'an eye for an eye' OR in this case 'fire for a fire' and I wouldn't toss a cup of water on either to try to put the fire out. They are a waste of oxygen.

these two should get the same they did. i would be the first in line if you could light the two on fire. thats the problem with this country, if you do something then you should get the same punishment.
