deparate times we live in. They didn't say whether he had any money on him. If he did not, and was a long way from home. depending on the type of car he has, 4 gallons would not get him very far.

I got ten free boat rides after I waded out onto a sandbar and yelled at passing boats that I was a diabetic and needed my insulin.

I love how people like you actually believe that there's still good in people. It quite laughable.
No wonder people like you get taken, I would've told that person to get lost, or "sorry, just used my last $20". Don't be so gullible.

I still believe there is good in *some* people. I just cannot tell who they are. I hope my fellow posters have good in them. But do we truly know anyone? Do we even know ourselves? Part of not knowing ourselves come from not wanting to look at our weaknesses or admit they are there. I know if I was starving to death, I would steal to survive.

A study was done on stealing employees. Out of 10 people, one is a hard core thief who will take anything not nailed down. Two would never steal if their life depended on it. The other seven are generally "honest," but if they were down on their luck, they would do whatever it takes and look out for number one. The ways to keep the seven honest are to let them see honesty from the top, not leave any temptations around, and make examples of those who are caught (ie., don't make under the table repay deals, but prosecute). As for the really bad apple, well, there is not much to do other than do dilligent background checks, and come down hard the first time they are caught.

A similar trick has been worked here. You drive onto the motorway and "break down" . You call the AA or another breakdown service, and they take you and the car to your destination. All Free! Just make sure the "Fault" can't be fixed at the roadside.

I'm certain Jayne gained much more in real value than what she might have lost in the cost of the gasoline.

I was just a boy when my mom left the car unlocked with a bag full of groceries on the seat. When I pointed it out to her she said, "if someone needs those groceries bad enough to steal them, they can have them."

It's important not to confuse wealth with money.
