People are so interesting, from each one's background and culture, they bring a wealth of riches, all into the big 'mixing pot' they are put to blend, and out of it is the wonder of what we have 'here n Topix' 'Wonderful' is a word which is casually used.. but what we have here is 'WONDERFUL' in its very truest sense. This may be somewhat off track Grace, but it just occurred to me. What colour would you associate with certain people here? For myself I would think Grace = Green La Sunshine = Yellow or Golden But it didn't take rocket science!.......

Do you find some Cyber-communities can get a little clickish? I do a lot of forum reading to find interesting links for the blog I have to write every day for work, and I've noticed people who try to join the fun with their posts sometimes are ignored all together.

I've seen that senario all over Topix. It's hard for some people to be accepted, while others are pulled right in to certain groups. Reminds one of things from school....those "clix" that were all over the place.....somewhat the same here. People are ignored, some might call it "accidentally overlooked", I would call it as it is "ignored"....UNTIL, you say something that isn't in agreement with them......then you are no longer ignored but are attacked, not by one but by all of them, each one picking off a little piece of you, like vultures LOL. All because they think their way of thinking is the only way there is. Yes, I've seen it! It's happened to me and to other people I know. Topix, it's like most things in this world of ours, survival of the fittest.

I love topix, except for the fact that there is no easy way to get back into a discussion at the point where my posts are. I am forever hunting through pages for my posts, so I can follow the replies and conversations.
When you click on the link that says you have responses to your posts, it should take you to your post, so you can see the responses, not the first page of the thread!
This is an obvious thing to fix. How do we tell Topix programmers to get on this?

Someone asked me to complete my profile the other day- so they can get a better 'feel' for me. while i know it does make some ppl more comfortable to know where you're coming from by studying my profile, i prefer they pay attention to my posts. not knocking anyone who does, but being this is a more literary forum, i decided not to do the profile- i might change my mind one day, i just didnt want to be prejudged.

Cyber communities are vicious. People's sense of esteem get mixed p in the discussion, leading to a lot of drama. Over time, I have become a better person because of my part in the antics. I also have learned the world is filled with people who think a lot differently than I do.

And yes, if you've PUI, the next day you'll definitely regret it. Plus, it could lead to unsafe Internet trysts. You have to wear plastic gloves while typing to keep from getting a 'puter virus! ...yup i've done it. and then with hat in hand, i had to go back to apologize, not fun.

As a columnist, I know negative reactions to topics we write about are just as valued by higher-ups in the newsroom as positive reactions. They want us to touch a nerve, to get people going, especially Web traffic. So, everyone eat, drink and be merry while you're posting! Just don't get vulgar and abusive. Most of us get enough of that from our spouses in real life. HA!
