topix

what do u like/dislike about it? what have u noticed in these forums that you've learned about people/groups?

IM RSUHING NOW,
BUT TWO IMMEDIATER THINGS SPRING TO MIND,

TOPIX IS DEFINITELY ADDICTIVE! LOL AND TIME SEEMS TO FLY COMPLETELY AWAY WHEN YOU'RE ON IT,
DOES ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THIS? I OFTEN SAT HERE, SAY 10AM MEANING TO STAY TILL 10.I5 when I look its after 11.am!!

another annoyance, Several threads being brought up on the same news topic! that just ME being picky LOL

i've learned that there is order out of chaos or chaos out of order.

i agree on both points. another thing i noticed is how issues have to be incendiary in order for the postings to continue- i guess thats natural. but it makes me wonder is that why we we have so much negativity in the news today? maybe if the issue isnt filled with 2 sides bickering at each other, no one cares?

true indeed- very difficult to stay on topic once the thread starts to run long. and a simple offbeat story can lead down the path of topics like religion or politics or sex.

what i do like is sometimes you run into some special people.

what i dont like is that sometimes you run into some knuckleheads.

the mystery to me is why do the knuckleheads get more attention?

also, i like topix because it improves my typing skills. 20 words a minute baby!!!!

That seems always to happen here.. but its fun..

All i know is i hate when work interferes with Topix..

Hello Grace, I saw this thread by accident. I love topix, the people, the fun, the serious moments, just relating with others..it's very addictive and my family gets annoyed with it often!!(NOT ME!!) I do spend too much time on here and neglect the family but they know if I don't get my TOPIX FIX for the day I can become very grumpy..lol. Topix brings all people into one group and we all find out just how much we're alike..

lol- i remember seeing you before, you have a very busy household- your family gets annoyed? perhaps you should start a topic on that- lol

yeah i was thinking that perhaps knuckleheads get a lot of attention cuz they're easy to beat down? no one really respond to positive, diplomatic or inspiring statements, but say something absurdly racist and you'll get 100s of replies!

Yes, I agree it seems if a thread is controversial it certainly attracts more posters,
I suppose along the same lines as the media, if a story is juicy enough, people will go for it..

Some folks like it quiet and easy, others do not..I heard someone recently say when things get really boring, they would even welcome a troll!!.

Some threads just blossom, there's no indication from the outset! just 'chance' whilst others wilt after a few posts.

I dislike (1). The same topic going sevarl times in the same Form.(2). When the topic leaves what the tread was stared on.(3). When no matter what the thread is some one comes in and makes it a political thread.(4). When someone just comes on the thread to cause problems.----What I like (1). All the people (2).The diffrent views & opions from around the world (3). Maybe make a friend also help someone if they need it.(4). Kills time away from the T.V.(5) You kind find out what is going on around the world and post a opinion about it.

good points, tuvok. the good the bad and the ugly- just like the real world :) it does seem like everything evetually goes down the road of either politics or religion.

PUI. I've seen entire threads dedicated to posting under the influence taken down. While it can be funny, it also can be mean-spirited and cruel. And yes, if you've PUI, the next day you'll definitely regret it.
Plus, it could lead to unsafe Internet trysts. You have to wear plastic gloves while typing to keep from getting a 'puter virus!

What always fascinates me is the wide range of personalities,
everyone so different and just like colours, each one complimenting the
other. Granted you might have an 'orange' and 'purple' personality clashing a bit, but at a later stage they settle into the overall picture together.. People are so interesting, from each one's background and culture,
they bring a wealth of riches, all into the big 'mixing pot' they are put to blend,
and out of it is the wonder of what we have 'here n Topix'

'Wonderful' is a word which is casually used.. but what we have here is 'WONDERFUL' in its very truest sense.
