Jul 2, 2012 Full story: WOODTV.com 213

Scientists working at the world's biggest atom smasher plan to announce Wednesday that they have gathered enough evidence to show that the long-sought "God particle" answering fundamental questions about the universe almost certainly does exist.

Oh, really? Gotta love it!!! You keep telling yourself that Bucko. Please check for lost items next time you close somebody up!! Just like God ... you're only human.

these people are arrogant idiots. people have more important things to learn about than speculation about the origins of the universe - like survival on this planet and of this planet. these guys and the others who want to go to the edge are full of egomania, and think nothing is important enough for them except cosmic stuff.
anyone with any sense would concentrate on whether there is manmade global warming, and what to do about it if there is -
on dangers from the nuclear industry - waste and reactors and weapons and even overuse in medicine -
and the possibility of finding an approaching asteroid that might be a danger and diverting it from a collision course -
and chemical and biological dangers -
etc.
that matters for mankind and all other species now and in the future.
the other stuff - excuse me, but what difference does it matter - what does it do for us? it just inflates the egos of a bunch of scientists who are already puffed up too much with what they think they know.
These questions are fundamental to our existence and we are duty bound as sentient beings to reach a fuller understanding. How can we fix our world today if we don't understand from whence it came? How dare you call anyone "arrogant idiots" in pursuit of such pure and selfless a thing as knowledge? It was the industrialists, the capitalists, the politicians and the priests who poisoned our world and it will be the "arrogant idiots" who will bail our ass out. I do wish they hadn't chosen "the God Particle" as a name. What's God got to do with it? Nothing. Cheap sensationalism.

WHEN I heard the learn’d astronomer;
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me;
When I was shown the charts and the diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them;
When I, sitting, heard the astronomer, where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,
How soon, unaccountable, I became tired and sick; 5
Till rising and gliding out, I wander’d off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars.
I like that. Sometimes I sits and thinks ... and sometimes I just sits.

I absolutely agree with you sir, I don't understand why they would want to cause any confusion and conflict with such a incredible discovery. people aren't able to focus on the real accomplishment with it causes a conflict of interest.

It can be a little confusing I admit.

I read it was originally meant to be 'THE GODDAMN PARTICLE'

because it was SO difficult to find.

"the Higgs Boson was dubbed the “Goddamn Particle” by Leon Lederman since it was seemingly impossible to isolate. Lederman, a leading researcher in the field, wanted to title his book “The Goddamn Particle: If the Universe is the Answer, What is the Question?” But his editor decided that the title was too controversial and convinced Lederman to change the title to “The God Particle: If the Universe is the Answer, What is the Question?”

I like what u r sayin but why is it God had to start with the atom or molecule and not the way it is stated? I just don't get why so many are worried about the in depth study on this when they themselves can't keep a serious relationship or whatever example you wish to put there. I realize everyone has the right to an opinion and do not even argue that point but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.....

Fact is there is no turning back from the point we as humans are at because it is just the way it is and to suggest that Jesus had his day in the son is quite funny much alone to compare anyone as a scientist to him but opinions are opinions so have at it I guess.....

Thanks for your opinion too.

It was kind of said as a joke,
no disrespect meant.

I think also, it's really down to different beliefs.

Naw, God let's you think you are God because He realizes you have low self esteem and He doesn't want you taking it out on your patients. Here is God in action.
