This has gone beyond tweakers looking for money to buy an eightball. These people are clearly working the system.

Effing parasites.

You city folks sure are lucky.

Out here in the country we don't have any man-holes to put a cover on.

This is a safety issue with the public. The creatins that steal these have to have a source they sell to. If that source is legit they had better turn the theives in, if they are not then when they are caught the DA should throw the book (and manhole covers) at them with full force. These are not drug addicts but organized gangs of lowlifes.
Yet the way the court system works now only someone that steps in dog feces gets to "have their day in court", whereas the real criminals are set free right after booking.

Wait until you or one of your kids fall down a hole where some criminal stole the cover.

Or, in regards to related problems... Wait until you step on a wire carrying 6000 - 25000 volts and get electrocuted, because the thieves stole what they could of high tension lines and left the rest there to kill others. Or wait until you find your house flooded because someone broke into your house and ripped out the plumbing.

I used to take care of an elderly women who weighed probably 80 lbs soaking wet. She was walking down the street and fell down a manhole that was missing it's lid man was she screwed up broke both hips and a leg. She walked funny and was very cranky poor thing her balance was off she was a mess. I hope the cities come up with a plan to install something else to cover the holes up something that is not so appealing to the low life scum bags who steal these things.
When these guys are caught they should have to run down a road that has several holes with no covers, blindfolded!!!

In related news transgendered victims are demanding an investigation into the recent rash of stolen Mangina's that has plagued the sex change community. Former Senator and Presidential candidate John Kerry,(now Johnette Kerryweather) and spokeswoman for T.G.W.M.G.H.B.S.(trangenders whose mangina's have been stolen) said at a meeting in Washington D.C.(district of Columbia) that" Manholes and Mangina's are the sole property of the individual cities and should have rights and stuff" Kerryweather also added that " Some sick individuals seek wierd thrills stealing these related items and keeping them preserved in Formaldehyde or something" "this has got to be the main issue on the candidates platforms this August"

Will someone please tell me why a man hole cover is called a man hole cover?

If women wants to be treated equal then they should call it a woman hole cover.

As a man I object. It's just not fair.

Need to tie a two-by-four to the ass in of the car to keep it from falling in.
