All hail the information triumvirate! - Topix World News North America

Full story: www.topix.net

I was reading an interview today with Jorge Cauz, the president of Encyclopedia Britannica, in which he describes some of the Web 2.0-y tools that the company is preparing to roll out to enable readers to ... contribute to the encyclopedia's content. (I'm on Britannica's board of editorial advisors.) The interview touches, as you'd expect, on the great success that Wikipedia has achieved on the Web and, in particular, on its ever increasing dominance of Google search results.

Encyclopedia Britannica and their information and photos found on their Books are protected by the Copywrite and Patent Laws because they are a For Profit organization, so they will never be like Wikipedia. snip
On the other hand Wikipedia is an Open Source and believes that information belongs to anyone in the world and the information is provided free to poor people, middle class, and the rich.

Wikipedia receive money through Donations to pay for the Internet Servers where they keep the information that anyone can access.

With Wikipedia you can find and use most of their information and photos on your own web site because they have lots of information about the Public Domain and free photos from other people who believes that information belongs to everyone.

Public Domains means that the Copywrite has expire or phots and books has been donated to the public so you can use the information anywhere you like for Free.

Encyclopedia Britannica does not want the public to know about the Public Domain other wise no one will buy their Books.

If you notice a photo on the Encyclopedia Britannica Books that is on the Public Domain they will not let you use the photo unless you pay them a Fee money, that is wrong because you can get the same photo for free on Wikipedia.

The Encyclopedia Britannica will never bee like Wikipedia so I am staying right here with Wikipedia...

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Taurus

Try to keep your energy a little bit more under control. If you scatter in all directions, you'll end up hot and bothered. Mars tends to rev up your engine, but an awkward aspect to Saturn will make everything go in stops and starts. As soon as you try to shift into higher gear you meet immovable objects at the moment, so the solution is to slow down. There are wonderful, uplifting influences hanging around as well as tricky ones, so just hang in there.
