I have tried for over 10 years to get help with this. I have to walk this swinging bridge. They say they won't fix it unless it is an emergency such as a heart attack, stroke, etc. Guess the person with the heart attack would die before they got it fixed. Huh. Also I have letters about all this. Our Boone County Officials does not want to help us out in this situation. Said it would cost too much money and that's not feasable, but yet they can pay thousands of dollars for one chair for the 911 center. Don't get me wrong I know the 911 employees have a very important job, but why can't we get help? They may have to come to our rescue when someone falls off that bridge and gets hurt badly or killed. It is being held up now with straps, black tape and there are boards missing the big steel cables are rusting to pieces. All you have to do is go look at it and see what I am talking about.

just move. it's simple. if you're worried about being injured or left-for-dead when you're dying, get the hell off the property and move to someplace safer.

it's total ignorance to claim "this is my home!" and still be worried about dying because of a walking bridge.

there's alternatives. don't rely on the government for your own welfare. do your american duty and become a solution, not the problem.

Thank you very much.... people do not understand about this..... I bet they couldn't live like people here do. That bridge is the only way people can get to their homes besides driving across a river and if the water is up then they have to walk that swinging bridge and in the winter time they have to walk it all the time and some of these homes have been in these peoples families for decades.... and to the dumbass that has something smart to say.....bet you couldn't survive it for one week.....

so, they can't sell their place? why? because it's over a bridge that no one wants to travel over? duh!

it's not the government's obligation to build a bridge to serve one, two or ten people.

you people moved there or more than likely your ancestors did and you've inherited the place. it's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to do for yourselves.

more than likely, most of the people stuck in these situations have put themselves in the situations. the government didn't tell them to move there, the government didn't build the first bridge. chances are, some coal company or land management company built the bridge in the first place.

people need to take responsibility for themselves. the government should not cow-tow to the whims of a few people simply to allow them to live on a piece of property that's worthless to anyone except the current owner.

shows how much you know, for starters the county built the bridge........and try eight to ten FAMILIES.... people like you don't have a heart and evidently don't know God ......and at least they do have something to call their own.....they do at least need a safe way to their homes.......you need to think about what's going on in the world, like wars, economy and the families against families, nation against nation.......Think About It......fulfilling the Bible.......makes you think..... so I wouldn't be so quick to judge these people because.........God WILL judge all people......I wouldn't want to be in your shoes when that happened.
