"Ask a "degreed scientist" (I have) and, if he is honest, you will learn that the level of carbon dioxide was 20 times higher at that time then it is today" You fail to mention that the earth was a lot hotter at that time. I don't think you want to live under conditions like that. The PO is irresponsible for printing this letter since it is stated as fact rather than the opinion that it is.

Martin's LTE is 100% opinion. Martin's. The Public Opinion did not endorse or support Martin's viewpoint by publishing the LTE. Martin expressed what he believes. Don't let the LTEs upset you--they're just what someone thinks and believes to be true. Americans will suffer if the loons in Congress legislate the "Cap & Trade" tax that affects all Americans who use energy.

Nobody on the left is thinking. That's for sure, and in Fatboy we have the the proof.

Did the PO editors edit out 75% of your letter to make it sound like a bunch of meaningless, rambling nonsense? ... or were you just rambling?

The consensus now among 30,000 scientists is that manmade global warming is a hoax. The United States is sitting on a huge pool of untapped oil...2 trillion barrels. Obama doesn't want to tap it because he and his friends have huge investments in the "carbon trading" scam and other energy sources. Go here and read: http://www.thecypresstimes.com/article/News/O...

At least the PO prints both sides -- unlike the EPA of the Obama administration where they ban opinions and reports that don't fit their political agenda! Typical liberal drivel that says it's irresponsibile to print both sides!! Sorry about your luck!

Of course you didn't answer the question, which is, do you think you would like to live on earth under the conditions that existed when the atmosphere had twenty times the CO2 ? This was the big point of the letter writer - that since it happened before it must be OK. Also, you misspelled my name. Are you that ignorant, or just rude ?

Tweedle, why don't you get off here and go do your chores? You can start by getting rid of all those soiled hankies out from under the mattress, so your mommy doesn't find 'um. Psst...she'll tell ya you goin' to hell or something.

The number of Carbon Atoms hasn't changed. However when you burn a gallon of gasoline it produces 20 pounds of Carbon Dioxide. The human race is pumping about 80 million barrels of oil a day. About half of the oil is changed into gasoline. One barrel contains 42 gallon. Or 40,000,000 bbls.X 42 gal/bbl.=1,680,000,000 gallons of gasoline per day. 1,600,000,000 gallons of gasoline are burned per day and each gallon produces 20 pounds of CO2. This is approximately 33,600,000,000. pounds of C02 produced per day. It took millions of years to produce the oil that we are consuming in one day. We know that C02 is a heat trapping gas. These figures can be checked at any Chemistry Dept at any College or University

Yall need to check out "cap and Trade" specifically the energy section. I hope none of you are planning to try and sell an existing home, because you will have to do an energy audit, and replace windows dooors and upgrade insulation, or just not sell.

BTW, that large pool of untapped oil that an above idiot said Obama won't tap because of some reason or other, "the USGS estimate that there are 3,649 million barrels of technically recoverable oil in the entire US Bakken" accumulation".http://www. theoildrum.com/node/3868
We currently use 7.6 billion bbls a year in the U.S.
Like Shale Oil, it might be there but there isn't the technology to get it. With Shale oil, you have to heat the rocks to over 1100 degrees to get the oil-like substance to flow from the rocks.
Face it, the planet is running out of oil. The US is sitting on 190 billion barrels of recoverable oil. If we didn't import any oil, 25 years and it is gone. Costs will just go up as time goes on. Oil is not cheap and won't be cheap in the future.

And in the future we can blame the democrats for the fall of the economy because they are in bed with GE, one of the "premiere" companies that have the inside track with Jeff Immelt underneath Obama's desk right now.
