Heh wait a minute.......New orleans gets hit and everybody crying WHAT WILL THE GOV DO OR GIVE ME???? I CANT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT GOV HELP!!!!All up in the midwest Iowa an stuff Flooded out EVERYTHING not just part of a city, Texas has stuff that wont work for 6 or 8 months, but why is it I dont here them screaming about billlions of dollars or have the attitude someone else should fix it!!! No in Iowa they packed there stuff up and went to the next farm to help them on there way out then go to next town an start putting sand bags to help there, even though they know there home is already under water. Take a look at them and use that as a example an stop saying someone else should always do IT. Just thought id say was very impressed with the way it was handled without all the finger pointing that happened in NO when they didnt do what they should have an then blame the gov.
Nice one sided view, eh. Couple of things to think about.
1. The people in New Orleans wouldn't need government assistance if the insurance companies did the right thing and paid them for their houses rather than finding excuses to either not pay the claim or pay pennies on the dollar, this will be in litigation for the next 10 - 20 years.
2. 85% of New Orleans was buried under water and blown away, this is not the case with Texas. Texas may have some water damage and some houses may be destroyed but I seriously doubt that it's to the extent that New Orleans experienced. New Orleans suffered something catastrophic, Texas did not.
3. New Orleans is one of the poorest states in the nation with alot of oil profits going (conveniently) to Texas. Maybe if New Orleans had more money and jobs people wouldn't have been so poor and they would have been able to afford a car that could get them the hell out of New Orleans when Katrina hit.
4. Because of Katrina, FEMA response time will be much shorter than the 5 days that it took to get to poor people who had just been devastated after being hit by a category 3 hurricane.
5. New Orleans is being rebuilt, with gentrification in mind, condos are going up right along the levees. Thank god for progress (sarcasm), I'd be careful when buying one of those condos, we all know about the wonderful work the Army Corps of Engineers does. Hope you know how to swim and run.
Let's not compare apples to oranges, ok.
