there was alot of us who lost alot or all of our things but that was exactly what the were things, the can easily be replaced, but When we lost all our things and we didnt have flood insurance we picked up the pieces our selfs we didnt sue anyone "It had nothing to do with the coal companies, It was an Act of god, maybe we should look at the situation as an eye opener, we none lost loved ones, and people around the area helped one another in need, I hate that this happened and I pray it doesnt happen again, but people really should be thankful for what they were spared, you have you life your kids, and friends and Family. Why would you place the blame on a coal company that many of you all have friends and family working at, they have families as well, and Im sorry, It just not worth a man or woman losing there job over a few hundred dollars Im not taking food off of some families table

As I stated in an earlier post, yes I have lost everything I own in a flood including a double wide mobile home that I am still making payments on and no longer own and I didn't have flood insurance. The area I live in that got flooded had not seen flood waters like we had that night since 1929 as according to one old timer that is still alive in our neighborhood. I was angry and still am a little, but there is no one to blame but mother nature and myself.

Looks to me like both sides loses in some way.. the miners are getting the blame for something that was not their fault, the one's who got flooded it was not their fault either,so who really wins in this case???If we did not get coal to use, then we would not have the easy way of life that we do have, think what it would be like if we did not have our modern appliances to help us do our work and play???No one ask for the flood it was mother nature at work, look at the places out of here and what nature disasters they go through, do you think we are any better???We all lose something when bad things happen, no one wins.. Lets just stick together and help each other, is that not what we are here for??? Good luck to everybody.

Why is it when people stand up for their rights and fight coal companies from polluting their water, they are automatically dubbed "Coal Haters!" They're just wanting the companies to play by the rules & not pollute their streams with the run off.

I agree if they are guilty of polluting the waters, then yes they should be held accountable, but this issue has nothing to do with water quality.

I've read up on this attorney and looks to me like he knows his business. He's already won other cases of this nature so yes there's reason to believe that he'll win this case also.

He knows the companies will settle for a few dollars to avoid going to court. He'll make 40% off the top and the plaintiffs will each make pennies by the time they split it among themselves. I did hear through the grapevine that the plaintiffs will still be responsible for his expenses even if they lose...not very smart on their part of this is true.

You heard wrong but I agree they'll want to settle before it ever goes to trial which isn't far off. Keep in mind there are several coal mines involved so that'll be negotiations with each one. Lawyers normally get a third so yeah they definitely get a lot more than your average citizen. Makes me wish I'd gone to law school.

Why would they settle if they weren't at fault? Why not just go to court and prove the coal company wasn't responsible?
