Cold and homeless...in Rowan County

there used to be a man who was at the entrance to the old walmart parting lot and several times I have him the change that was in my console he was always thankful and one day while in foodlion my son notices that he was int here and he was buying food so that made us feel like we had done the right thing you never know what the money will be used for but I would rather think that I helped than left someone without something to eat or a warm place to sleep

I agree with you. I remember one time I gave a man some money on the Winchester Rd exit ramp and 30 minutes later when I drove by I saw him walking in the snow carrying McDonalds to two other people huddled up under an overpass. I am so glad they got a hot meal.

i know some homeless people that were give homes and decided that being gay and getting drunk was more important than taking care of there kid's the guy with a broke leg probably had a fake cast on you need to look at this world people it's turned into one big con game drug's and thug's home invasions, murder, beating's it all boil's down to one thing greed and lack of respect for them selves when you get so low that you have to claim faggissem for a reason to be homeless you are gone any way hope i insulted someone so they can flag me again love everyone butt your one sex you are not right

Folks sorry to bust your bubble but the homeless are there by choice or mental illness. I have always had a soft spot for my brothers who served in vietnam. I would always ask those who had the homeless vietnam veterans sign who they had served with. several times I found that they were just useing my sympathy. I do remember helping a veteran who was living in the woods at day and comeing to the local strip mall at night to eat from fast food dumpsters. It was a long process to get to be his friend and get him into the system so he could live a normal life. I was there too and am a totally nut case from my experience in vietnam but was fortunate to have a family who saw that I sought treatment. Please try to help our returning troops, some of these guys will be a mess because so much is expected of them.

how do you volunteer? i would love to volunteer in our local homeless shelter however have no idea where to go to or call.

We have a local Homeless shelter on old fleminfsburg rd and entrance off the bypass straight across from the cave run clinc,denist office.They do have guidlines and also use volunteers.We also have Doves for women that are living in a violent home.
