Cold and homeless...in Rowan County

You know I don't get the pop thing on here. Anyway once when I worked for Cave Run Lodging I did errands for them which I got extra money to do. One day I was going to Kroger and Jean had given me $5.oo to go. Well on 801 there was a man standing there in the broiling hot sun and he had a broke leg. He was holding one of those homeless signs and I stopped and gave him that $5.oo. He didn't even say Thank-you. That really bothered me.

thats why its hard to just give people money these days, throwing more good money after bad in most cases.

I seen to be lost here. Can someone please explain what Dr. Pepper and Mt. Dew has got to do with being homeless.

Is that a real question? its obvious that its asking if you were homeless would you rather have a Dr. pepper or a mt dew? gosh people these days-im joking

There are plenty of people around Morehead homeless.
they would rather have a warm place to sleep than Mt. Dew or Dr. Pepper. Me I am strictly an Ale-8

There are some familys that by no falt of there own that are homeless and it is not a joke!! Jobs are hard to hang on to and come by. Watch the news!!! People are getting laid off everyday! You people that think this is something to make fun of remember that there are cold hungry and homeless kids, Kids that only eat at school if they even go to school. So you sick people that have nothing better to do than drink your pop and blowe you money on things you don't need a family right down the road might not eat tonight or a kid might not have a place to sleep! You all make me sick realy!!

thank you very well spoken i would say it is alot more of a problem than any of us really know about yes we have a homeless shelter in morehead but....how many can they take in ....i agree with you and yes i feel sorry for the ones who have no one or nowhere to go and worry where there next meal will come from especially the children, mine are complaining about pinto beans and corn bread and potato's tonight but i told them they had better be thankful because alot of people don't even have that...

People ask for hand outs all the time. Some of them live better that I do. How do you no if it is legitimate or not? Do you help everyone who asks or do you pick and choose. How do you know?

use your best judgement this is my opinion and belief if they are lying in the end to use you they will pay if you help them out but never bring them home with you i give money and food to the ones standing out around morehead alot because what if they were in need everybody makes fun of me for doing it but you don't know there story and what if there an angel sent here to see if your doing your part ...its something to think about.

Me and my mother stopped and gave a guy hanging out at the old wal-mart parking lot $10 and he was very kind and very grateful. I always help when I can. I don't care if they are not completely in need of the money, that is not why we gave it, we gave the money because he asked for it and we had it to spare.

you seem like a sweet person i was grown up and taught to help people in need if i could give i have even given when i really did'nt have it to give but god always sees me through......god bless

You are right People Really, Some people cant help that they are homeless.These people that are makeing fun of the homeless might see them selfs in that spot someday.Yes some are fake but some are leget. I would never turn anyone away if they say there hungry.Have anybody seen a homeless person's eyes light up when you give them a no.3 meal from Mc Donalds ? Have you ever seen a husband & a wife where there house has burned down ? And not have no place to go.Please , do not judge people by what they do not have ! They are still human and most of the time good people.
