First off, prayers and thoughts go out to the victims families and friends, horrible horrible situation. I feel channel 6 did a good job covering the storms with all the chaos that was going on at the time (6 or 7 different possible tornados at the same time can get very hectic). I just watched a news clip from ky3.com in Springfield that showed what Pitcher looks like and it is very bad. I also watched a clip where a family in Springfield found the Arts section of the Tulsa World in their back yard. Also baby pictures and various other things. They said they were putting a link up on their site if anyone wants to check and see if you know who's baby pictures they are. I feel bad for the loss of life. BUT, we did have a pretty good idea that this was going to happen. PEOPLE, please pay attention to the weather this time of year. It may save your life!

We're praying for you folks.
For anyone out there who would like to show your support or assist in anyway. Contact your local Red Cross and make sure anything you donate is designated specific for this disaster. They will get it up to our neighbors. |

My hometown is Picher, OK and I lived there for about 19yrs. It was closer to a town of 2,000 people 6yrs ago. I don't know the current population, with the EPA buyout going on, but definitely more than 300 people lived there. That was not the only residential area in Picher that you showed on the news tonight. Oh, and the remnants of that home was my Wife's Aunt's home, and it was a solid home build on a foundation, not a moblie home. There was also a 2 story home across the street from that. Once you get to go throughout the town more, you will see there is a lot more residential area there. The people from there are all good people, and my friends. Keep them in your prayers.

That was a bad storm. It took out homes all across NE Ottawa co. Some around Quapaw and Peoria before going on to Missouri killing several. Those people will need all the help they can get. I just hope the polititions get the help soon instead of setting on their rear.

1 may the victims be wrapped in the loving arms of jesus. NOW, Maybe those, who only a few days were whining and screaming about the weatherman cutting into their precious T.V. time, I wonder what the death toll would have been if not for the storm warnings thanks KOTV |

Am too hurt beyond belief that this happened. I am Jamie Sue Rhodes-Hardison. Grew up in Picher the first few years of my life.Went to Picher-Cardin school early 1970's to 1974. My dad was the late Billy Lee Rhodes. My grandparents were the late LeeRoy and Geraldine Rhodes. Related to the Kings, Forbis, Rhodes family from up there.
Spoke with my cousin Kim on the phone this morning. She even said the Paul Thomas Funeral Home was leveled. They were there for our family thru all of our losses and were friends of my grandparents for years. To the Thomas family my prayers are with you. And to all of the other families. Am a nurse now. Raised 7 kids. If anyone needs my help, e-mail me at jshjlr@aol.com and I will definitely get back with you. Jamie Hardison |
