This FEE should be DELETED. Its not like it rains in El Paso everyday. HELLO

We already have storm drains. They don't work when it rains because they are full of newspapers, cans, twigs, weeds and dead cats.
We already have a Street department that is supposed to maintain ( clean, oh no! me.. get dirty?) these systems. I worked for these tax dollar burning, red tape bound bozos and they win everytime. If they want 20% increase, they say they want 80%. The people get all outraged and protest and when they bring it down to 20%, the people think they won. We're such suckers! |

Time for me to leave El Paso, TAXES. |

im not going to pay it until they pry my cold dead fingers from my hand. i hate it for the guy who trys and turn of my meter for not paying stormwater fees.
what happened to fema and federal disaster money our city council, mayor and joyce wilson should have been getting from the federal govt when it happened. they dropped the ball. new orleans has paid for nothing, but i guess you only get bailed out if your population is 80% black instead of 80% hispanic. i say b.s.. they didnt do their job and now they want us to pay for it. eddie and cook also know that federal money uses federal contractors who wont kick them back money. if the city pays for it, local contractors(such as c.and c. and asphault pavers will get the jobs. local guys can kick back the politicians. thats really what this is all about and joyce wilson just tried to copy colorodo springs colorado. she is about as stupid as theycome to beleive this is nothing but a property tax. she should be ran off also. |

They forget to mention that this fee increases over the next 5 years to 400% of what it is now. Does this "discount" apply to all years or just the first?
Also, if I install gutters and rain barrels and cover over my driveway so I have zero runoff do I still get screwed? |
|
"No fool" has it right. And not only do we have to pay the increase in our water bill, but where do you think the schools are going to get the additional funds?? we're paying for this thing twice?! Also, there's already talk about increases to accomodate school Buses because of the higher price on GAS...
Yes, the city is to blame, but that doesnt mean that the PSB can charge outrageous fees to rectify this issue in a quick 5 yrs. If this is the "100 year flood" why are we having to pay it so quickly?? Also, when developers build in aroyos why dont THEY pay for the necessary equipment required for stormwater?? |

All I here in El Paso, is Taxes?? fees??? But you never here of jobs!!!! then to finish you off the idiots at the appraisal district value your home more than you can actually sell it for?? they keep thinking we are dallas, austin, again show me the jobs?? If you live on the westside, doesn't it surprise you to see el paso finest sitting their good for nothing butts waiting to give you a ticket, but you never see them on the eastside, yet the eastside has more accidents then the westside, you figure they would be on the eastside more often to curb accidents, oh i forgot they don't care about peoples safety, they care about giving tickets and they figure if they give them on the westside people are more likely to pay them??? By the way have you seen that stupid report that channel 9 did on pot holes, the excuse was that we are getting bigger because of fort bliss so their is more cars on the road not to mention thats the excuse every gov"t uses to ask for a tax increase or bond?? so because of fort bliss we have more pot holes? my question is this, i see more mexican plates on our roads then out of state plates? maybe the city counts mexican plates as city plates??? last question? I wonder which moron or idiots design the loop on the eastside, how in the hell are you going to design a loop and not have a ramp that connects you from 1-10 to the loop with out getting of the freeway, only in el paso, i bet you if they built a loop in dallas you know for sure they would put a loop to connect?? taxes, bond, no jobs???

how about a nice glass of storm water? GREAT!

I guess you wouldn't be happy about the City spending money it borrowed to repair damage from the 2006 Storm on other items totally unrelated to the storm.

The solution is everyone in el paso should not pay the ridiculious tax hikes. I will not be sending in the storm water hike. I refuse to pay. When the city was out delivering the Blue recycling bins I refused to accept one and called the water co. and told them that I did'nt want to participate cause we were going to be charged for recycling and the person that I talked with said that we were not going to be charged a cent, but as the conversion went on she told me that in two or three years the city was going to charge residents for recycling. So El Paso get ready to pay for recycling. I made them come and pick-up the blue bin from the street cause I told that person the blue bin was staying in the street. As for now I don't have a blue bin in my yard. NEVER WILL. El Paso citizens need to get together and get rid of John Crook before we all wind up in the poor house. |

I'm amazed that they didn't put a sticker on your bin and give you a ticket for having it two inches out of place as well. The gall of Cook and his cronies on city council and the PSB is mind-boggling. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but El Paso is growing, many homes are being built and new neighborhoods are being created. Now, should'nt our taxes level off or even decrease if there are new homes that are going to be taxed as well. Also, this influx of soldiers that are coming in is'nt the Federal Gov't helping to have these homes to be developed and services to be created such as other schools, and fire dept? I don't understand the logic of our taxes to continue to go up each year in some form or another.

In the near future our taxe payments are going to surpass our mortgage payments.

Ft Bliss has built a considerable amount of new housing to handle the military families coming in. They have also built new barracks on base for the single soldiers. Most of the military will be housed on post, but they are not required to live there if they would rather live "on the market". Many prefer to integrate with the city they are stationed at and be part of the community and they buy/rent homes off post. It is rare that military personnel have new homes built unless they are close to retirement and planning on staying there. That means they are buying/renting existing homes which is good for the local economy since it places occupants in normally empty homes. The overall affect on services is negligible since they contribute to the community by way of taxes, but don't use most of the social services (health care, welfare, etc) provided to the civilian populace. Most of that they can get via the military if needed. The negative impact comes from those who take more from the system than they give back. I'll leave it to you to figure out who that may be. |
Well, I know I'm going to catch some flak from my fellow hispanics, but, I do agree with what you are saying. My father who was hispanic but was born and raised in TX worked hard and provided for his family. I still agree with what he would say about social programs. "if this town continues to create programs that will handicap people from wanting to do for them selves this town is going tax the homeowner out of their homes". I guess this is so true. He told us that (my family) about 20 years ago. He belived in pulling yourself up from your bootstraps. |

Thanks Ray. It doesn't matter what your ethnicity or background is to Cook and Friends. He will tax and fee you as much as anyone else in town. It is refreshing to see a attitude of self-reliability in El Paso, however. I thought it was nearly extinct here. |

Why on earth do you exeempt your buddy at UTEP from the fee? Because Big Ed knows better than to tangle with bigger guns. Texas syatem would never allow it, even though UTEP is enjoying the higest tuition rates ever, far exceeding the rate of infaltion. UTEP is not a university, it is a shrine to a select few. UTEP beat them in court once before over the stadium issue if you recall. The aprtment association simply chose the wrong lawyer.

Let the builder pay and make the dirty politicians and engineers resign.
In the very least, focus on the city incompetnece, fire them, and I will pay the fee gladly knowing that the next politician will think before he tries to stab us in the back. Idiots! It is not a 40% reduction. It is a 60% increase. The other just doesn't sound as bad. |

Actually it's still a 100% increase since it never existed before. |
