The numbers at the end are incorrect. The expected high and low are switched.

Let me tell you about cold and snow: It’s minus 19 degrees (with wind chill) at the moment and we have at least 2 ft. of snow (some snow drifts up to 5 ft.) and supposed to get another foot plus by the end of the day. So much for Gore’s global warming.

A good friend of mine, who happens to be a PhD meteorologist working at the severe weather center in Norman, OK, says that global warming is not just limited to the temperature getting higher. It also refers to unusual weather patterns which include unusually cold winters as well as larger than normal amounts of snowfall. Entire weather patterns are disturbed and effected. The fact that people make comments such as yours says that they don't understand the issue that is global warming. The issue is very complex and is not as simple as you wish it to be. I consider myself as having slightly higher than average intelligence (I attended an Ivy League university, have my Master's in Science, and am currently working on my PhD) and even I have trouble with it at times. My friend says that global warming is real. I think I'll take the word of a PhD meteorologist over that of a scientist on the payroll of the oil industry, a pundit, a political hack, Limbaugh, Hannity, or the other usual suspects.

"High will be 30 degrees and the low will be 58 degrees" I hope they've got it backwards and not that it'll be -58 degrees.

Jane, "global warming" is an inaccurate term and part of why people can't understand it. What the term means is that we are experiencing extreme and unusual weather conditions, whether it's extreme heat or extreme colds or extreme hurricanes, etc. the climate is acting up in extreme ways more often. Global Warming doesn't mean it's hot all the time. I can understand why you're confused when you see the term "global warming" be tossed around in the lexicon of life. Hope this helps educate you on the terminology and the meaning of it.

Thank you! I knew someone was going to start their "Oh what about global warming now" crap.

I'm with you, I'll take the PhD over Rush, Hannity, and Beck any day!

since we cant comment on the "pedestrian hit on loop 375" story, i'll comment here. Who the hell thinks they can "challenge" traffic and win????!!! There's only one other person who's done that and survived. Mr. T.

Cycles, the more things change, the more things stay the same. Expect a hot cycle, then expect a cold cycle. Phd or not it is the way the Earth turns!

No one is denying that hot and cold cycles happen. The problem is that man is accelerating the cycles and throwing weather patterns off kilter. It doesn't have to be that way. If earth was a woman, man would be locked up for rape. I'm no tree-hugger, but damned, I love taking my family to the various national parks around our beautiful country, then return home to see the crap hanging over Houston and all those refineries, the brown blanket over El Paso, the rivers of toxic waste in New Jersey, nuclear waste in the Nevada desert, the endless miles of congested traffic in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Dallas, Austin,(insert name of city here). We can and should do better. I like what the Native Americans believe. We do not own Mother Earth. She belongs to our children and grandchildren. We are horrible stewards of the planet. The irony never escapes me when my conservative and christian friends refer to "God's green earth" then, in the same breath, deny global warming and demand more drilling.

There is more than meets the eye. The snake oil salespeople, of a pollution free and green planet, play on your fears while they fly in private jets, own several gas guzzlers and live in mansions that required massive amounts of electricity and water. His hot air on one end and gas out the other.

While I believe in doing the best we can to clean up the planet, the ONLY thing green is what is going into Gore's and his gang pockets.

Rey,

I love how you use "they". It's always "they", isn't it?. How do you know Gore owns "several gas guzzlers", or flies "in private jets"? My sister, who travels extensively for a living, has actually met Gore several times at various airports while waiting to board the very same commercial flight she was flying. Who would've thought American Airlines was a "private jet". And please define "massive amounts of electricity and water". That's like saying "everyone knows". You cannot make outlandish claims and ridiculous intelligence-insulting simplifications and be expected to be taken seriously.

OK, More than meets the Eye, what would you suggest,.....execute every third person to cut down on untreated sewage in the third world nations, don't let Vietnamese ride those oil smoking scooters, don't allow more than 18000 people live in any one city, cut production of goods and jobs so that no one aspires to a better life. Advancement comes with innovation, and innovation comes with incentives for a better life. I think you give humans too much credit for being able to alter the earth. There is nothing that the earth will not overcome,......even humanity. We are just as disposable as the dinosaur. If we don't find a way to survive, then we will become oil for the next civilization,.....or not.

Then call it unusual climate or deviation from the norm. Taken at face value, global warming means Earth is getting warmer. Obviously scientists coined this misnomer and not an English major. Either way, read up the Politically Incorrect Guide to Science and Global Warming. According to it, the Earth was actually warmer in certain eras than today. I will take that over one man's or panel's opinion.

That's the thing, Chuco, this is not "one man's or panel's opinion". It is the conclusion of thousands upon thousands of scientists from around the world who drew those conclusions after analyzing centuries' worth of hard data. That's hardly "opinion". The vast majority of the posts on this thread are opinion - that's the difference.

Eye, I have met Gore and had a VIP pass during his VP campaign. Do he research and see if you still BELIEVE that he is a energy and environmental protector.

By the way I still have the VIP pass, so if in your naive world, you doubt it ask to see it.

I am not in a habit of just believing everything that I am told nor just saying things to say them.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Taurus

As Mars turns retro, emotional tension makes you feel as though you're walking on eggshells. The temperature has risen by several notches, making the situation at home more fraught. Better to clear the air quickly and cleanly than to sulk and brood in ways that simply prolong the agony.
