More rain, less money combine for untidy roadsides

go watch these crews. 2 guys in the truck to block mowers, workers, etc. Everyone should video the state workers and send it to their crooked elected officials. goes double for county and town workers.

If you want to see a real dump just take a stroll through Eishenhower Park. All the money for the county parks has been diverted to keeping the county golf course green and trim while weeds grow wildly elsewhere in the park.

Long Islands grassy roadways and parkways have become disgusting areas of over grown grass and weeds. Tax payers money hard at work.

Make the prisoners chain gang and clean it up. We are already paying for their room and board. Let them give back.

It's a shame what is happening to LI. What a dump it's becoming. For all the tax money they collect... it's a crime it looks the way it does.

while the rain is an easy excuse, lets face it, the NYSDOT workers cant even get out of their own way. they are the second deadliest things on the highways, second only to NYCDOT.

if you'll notice every other place where grass grows has been mowed - residences, commercial properties, schools etc. the least little effort would get the job done on the parkways too.

as nassau county prepares the planes to bomb us for mosquito control again, these morons are creating a safe harbor for them to hide.
and when the grass is nice and dry --- brush fire!!! dont pull the car off the road onto the grass, or you then have --- car fire!!!

Funny , Newsdays concerned about the grass lining our roadways but never mentions the GROWQING Illegal Alien population along our roads , guess they think thats attractive !!!

so how long does the grass have to get before it gets cut? it is absolutely disgusting that with amount of taxes we pay around here , we cant even have the roadsides mowed !!! i will claim a piece of the roadside and keep it cut all season long ! all i want in return is a nice reduction in my property taxes !!!!

Maybe they should have to perform some work along side the same roads where they endangered the public.

They're still shelling out tons of money for these free concerts of yesteryear musicians at the Parks, and the garbage is gone by the next morning... The reason there is Garbage, is because you have to work to pick or clean it up, and when is the last time anyone cared to preform their Job properly ??? Like work a full 8 hour day... Snooseday, follow these people around before you blame the weather...

Just like everything else, garbage has become a complicated bussiness.... You have a load of fly by nites who have to do it under the cover of dark... You have kids who have to get rid of their evidence on the side of the road... Very few places to wash your sticky hands, so they just toss it.... People don't want to pollute... These idiots even made garbage pick- up difficult ...

long island roads are disgusting!!! people throw their garbage out of car windows & empty ashtrays in public parking lots...enforce the laws!!!!! hand out tickets...we should take a lesson from the southerners who have chain gangs and make them clean up the roads, since we taxpayers are paying for their room & board...obviously the town workers aren't doing theirs...they hide in parking lots and eat & bullsh*t...go to bars, hide their trucks in the parking lots etc...st. james tavern is one of the best hideaways for these workers as they have parking in the back...what a pleasure to take a ride upstate and see the beautiful roadways.....long islanders are pigs...plain & simple
