Beltzville State Park in Poconos already full this Fourth of July

I like Beltzville for the trails around the dam, and kids like to look for fossils.

As far as the "beach" (yeah, right), and the parking and the crowds,.... Forget it.

I wouldn't go in the water. The animals go there to use the lake as a bathroom. Watch for the report of the high fecal matter from floating logs and diapers. Let's see what kind of people are going there.

Every year that happens.
Wasn't it last year they had to close it for a few days/weeks?

I use that exit to go and visit my parents. Today, I went up the back way, but on my way home I used the turnpike.

Some of the reason why it was backed up that far, because they are working on that bridge at that exit, and they are using that stop light system. It's one lane over that bridge to get to the toll booth.

I had no problem going home, since I went towards Philly, but if I would have went north, I too would have had to cross that bridge, and wait at the light.

On my way home, there wasn't much traffic on the turnpike and it was about 1:30pm.

I bet there not one single tow away sign on those roads? But thats what happening.

I'll bet the buses were there bright & early. It's a shame they can't better control the crowds there. It used to be a great place to take the family for the day.

I bet if they charged a fee like they do at Mauch Chunk Lake($5 adults and $2 kids for non county residents they pay $2 and kids are free) the "city rats" would think twice. They come because it is free, even NJ makes you pay to use their beaches and state parks. THe water might not have so many sanitation issues.
Take a ride and count how many liscense plates are from states other than PA.

I grew up going there. My kids have never been there due to the lack of crowd control. Charge a fee.

It is so sad. I spent a lot of time at Beltzville as a child. I really enjoyed it. My children will never know the fun. The parks patrons (of recent years) are pigs. Every year the park is closed because the losers are lazy to walk to bathrooms or change a diaper. Charge a few and ban the buses. The animals (any one who is a pig, not one specific racial group) should use the public pools where there is chlorine to stop the germs.

I am Puerto rican and I would not go to Beltzville!!! I hate that place!!! Who would go in that nasty water??? It will be shut down soon....

I personally am NOT Puerto Rican and I did in fact try to go to Beltzville for a picnic with my family on the 4th. NOT to swim in the water as in fact it is gross, but it is a very nice place to picnic, the tables are far away from everyone else. The traffic was horrible, the security or whomever it was wouldn't let you into the park obviously and all the dumb puerto rican's that thought they were going to walk about 1 mile once the did find somewhere to park were told they had to move their vehicles or they would be towed. Some that I saw made their own picnic area down the street from there on the side of the water which I would never subject my children to those conditions! Well goes to show who is taking over!!! Inturn I left as I will never go there again!
