how do I become a moderator I clearly have the know how and don't mind siting at my computer for hours at a time

my first impression of this place was not good but now I think I can make it better cause most people here are good people that just have their moments and well I brought up a controversial topic but my some of my enemy's came around and called me "the most brutality honest person here

Hi there,

All Topix moderation is done by our own staff. At this point, there are no plans to give moderating power to users at large.

Can we be rid of the judging icons at least? As of late they have become nothing more than a flame fest for the immature & idiotic. Or at the very least simplify them to thumbs up or thumbs down?

Yet it will not get a lick of notice from anyone who can actually do something about it. Changing the code would be actually pretty easy. Plus it would weed out certain individuals who try & flame like pissy little children without a pacefier.

When they first came out, I complained about them to Top Mod, saying that they were an ineffective tool for flaming, suppressed the atmosphere that encourages free speech and fair opinion, and could be trashed in favor for a spell-checker.

I would much rather have that than stupid judging icons that make it more like Romper Room than a true discussion

If we DID have one, the person who started this thread would have spelled MODERATOR correctly.

a friend has been completely banned from commenting, however, I have seen much worse comments and launguage. That are still posted. Why is this? I have actually been called some not so nice names with the use of profanity and I reported it, and the comments are still up and they continue to comment!!

Is it legal for a vicious poster to publish a person's real name in a forum? Someone did this to me, but I reported it and it was immediately removed and I thank you. But what's from preventing a person from doing this again? Seems to me it shouldn't be legal, but again, I thank you for your help. And you know what the most hateful fora are? The religion ones!

I would say the small town forums myself. Every frustrated soap opera wannabe shows up to see how much grief they can cause their neighbors. Whatever premise regarding "news" Topix originally had got lost when it turned into a malicious gossip-fest. What a joke, and at the small towns' expense!

Why is that some people can have several post removed and others can get any removed. I have only requested the removal of one topic and even paid the fee with nothing being done. How does that work what am I doing wrong?

Paying money for what the host (Topix) should be taking care of on their own.

Good thing law enforcement agencies don't send you a bill when you report someone is breaking into your neighbor's house. Same principle.

I've complained many a time about someone stalking me but nothing has been done? This person stalks and harrasses me constantly. I've reported her yet you allow her to keep on doing it. Isn't this against rules? I just want to be able to post like anyone else and I assure you I am never offensive. What do I have to do to get this person to leave me alone? Please help!

Try changing your name! She isn't stalking you for your brain, is she?

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Virgo

This is not a day for sitting still if you can possibly avoid it because it will be a fast track to bad temper and sharp-tongued outbursts. Have plenty of short breaks, go for lots of walks or work up a sweat in the gym in your lunch-hour. If you're driving, keep an eye on the speedometer because it will be very tempting to go too fast and you'll be furious if you're caught.
