Yes you should.
I had an incestous relationship with my sister when we were in our teens and early 20's. It ended on good terms when I joined the army. She got married and after a couple of years they decided to start a family but my sister never got pregnant. Then she asked me to do it for her, we started having sex again and she soon got pregnant. We had a beautiful son. I'm also the father of her second child. Both our boys are healthy without any problems, but of course they think my sister's husband is their father. Do what yous sister wants. It will give you both something very special. |

Umm...I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that were a product of siblin reproduction gone wrong. As for the OP's question. No, I don't suggest it. You do have a higher chance for a child with birth defects because of the shared DNA between you and your sister. It's a big risk, and I suggest you don't take it. Besides, wouldn't that be cheating on her husband? That's just another reason to not do it. |

Calm down. Having an attitude such as yours makes you no better than someone commiting any sin. |

I agree with incest. I do not agree with the reproduction of children as a result of incest. The increased chance of birth defects isn't worth it. If you do help her out, that's your choice and that's okay for you to choose. Just realize the risk factors before considering. Ask a friend to help out. Go to a sperm bank. Possible short child > very probable retarded child. |

Well, both our sons are healthy normal kids, so there's been no divine punishment for our "sin". I conclude that either; A) your god is cool with what we've done or B) your god doesn't exist. :) |

1 The immediate and automatic response is "Don't do it...your children will come out RETARDED!!!" That's simply not true. In the case of offspring from first cousin matings, it's only a 4-7% chance of birth defects. Which is also what it is for women over 40 giving birth, but you don't hear the call to bad women over 40 giving birth, do you? Now as for direct blood-related siblings, I have no idea what the percentage is, and even what the effects would be, but the scientific reasoning is that offspring between siblings will tend to carry the recessive genes of the parents (in this case the siblings). And with recessive genes is that they are obviously the weak ones. This is in fact the same reasons why true bred dogs aren't as healthy as mixed breeds. The trouble is with this taboo is there isn't really any hard evidence or studies done on the manner because the phenomenon is probably very rare...at least in Western society. So as for what to do with the OP's question, I'd say, if she is willing to do it, and you have at least some attraction to her, then I'd do it out of love for her. I know that my sister, who is also having trouble conceiving with her husband asked me to, I believe I'd consider it. |

Warney, if you and your sister both want to have a baby, you should go ahead with your plans, espeially if it is acceptable to her hubby. The stories about retarded kids or kids born with birth defects from incest pregnancies are mostly old wive's tales. Lincoln6Echo's comment is mostly accurate and there many other's who have posted here on topix have healthy children with their sibling including Tom (Kettering, UK), and biiguy, who has fathered two (so far) healthy children with his sister. My sister and I had an unplanned daughter 39 years ago, and our only disappointment is that she is divorced.
I am aquainted with other couples that have healthy children, a brother and sister who managed to marry across the border from San Diego in Mexico, parents of three and he is retired from the US Navy and only the youngest still home. If there are no obvious signs of hereditary diseases in your family, your child(ren) with your sister will have no more chance of carrying recessive genes then your sister and her husband's child. May your sister parent a tall child, it may be a tall girl, ha ha. |

Absolutely. You need to plan a romantic weekend away and let nature take its course! Good luck! |

The risk of birth defects for cousins is only slightly higher, but the risk for siblings is much higher than that.
Don't do it. |

Yes, that's true. For cousins, it's only 4-6% rather than 2-3% for normal couples. But for siblings, its around 20-25%, I believe. But it just depends on genetic history within your family. I have a feeling though that a lot of posters on this board who talk about incestuous relations with their siblings, may be products of such relations themselves. They're inability to type a coherant statement (not withstanding language barriers) is a pretty good sign that these people may in fact be f'in retarded. |
