I'm not Catholic, but I'm behind the Vatican in general and I am curious to learn the details of the document Pope Benedict XVI has asked them to prepare.

the vatican is only worried that abortions and gays will reduce the number of potential followers of the catholic ideology for the future. This in turn means less revenue for the biggest corporation in the world.
You have a very distorted view of reality. FYI - even non-Catholics share the beliefs that abortion, gay marriage, etc. is morally WRONG. But if you want to take the stand on revenue -- better check your facts on just how much freaking money the abortion industry generates each year!

'Never before in history has human procreation, and therefore the family, which is its natural place, been so threatened as in today's culture,'
The above report put together by men who have taken a vow of celebacy. Now this makes a whole lot of sense ... men who choose NOT to procreate, telling other people what is good for 'the family'.

and maybe you should check your facts about how much money the catholic church and others generate each hear. the precepts of many churches including the catholic and the 7th day adventist and the mormon (lds) were hammered out in a boardroom as business ventures. they are run as businesses and they thrive on money. it has always been about money.

as far as 'abortion, gay marriage, and etc. being morally wrong, your assertion that they are is wildly inaccurate. please show us where, in the bible' abortion, for example, is addressed other than to suggest bashing out the brains of babies on the rocks or for women to go to their rabbi for a draught which would cause them to abort if they chose to not stay pregnant for any reason. on top of that, marriage of any sort at all is not in the bible except for the time that 'jesus' made water into wine so people could get drunk and puke on each other at a wedding. i suggest that he supported drinking wine and getting pissed more than he did matrimony.

Ladylawdog, the vatican condenms abortion yet you claim its OK. Someone's mistaken, who is it? Could it be that you've chosen only to recognize the "sin" of gay marriage because you're homophobic, like so many other hiding behind the bible?

the church makes millions more than abortion and if a woman wants to have an abortion its her right to, not some bloody stranger. I thought Americans has freedom to do what they want if it is legal. There are too many anti abortion nazis in the US.
Your claim is absolutely unsubstantiated - set forth on opinion, not fact. But rather humorous in any case coming from a Hitler wannabe.

Respect is earned, not freely given. Give me a reason to respect you - on any level - and I shall. So far all you have offered to anyone on these forums is filthy, disgusting language, TOTAL disrepect to everyone with a different viewpoint or opinion, spewed nothing but lies and openly exposed yourself as a complete fraud.

Unfortunately, right now in the U.S., our President is making political decisions based on his religious beliefs, which goes against the American doctrine "Separation of Church and State". Right or wrong, American women currently have the right under Federal Law to do as they wish with their bodies - which is exactly how it should be. Right now, Bush is attempting to appease the Republican extremist vote by pushing through this silly Anti-Gay-Marriage legislation that will NEVER pass by a 2/3 majority...at least, not yet. And the fact that the Vatican doesn't approve of any contraceptives, etc. is really no surprise to anybody, right? I'm sure all Catholics around the world are pretty aware of this fact by now - although I once knew a kid who was gay and was brought up Catholic...talk about your internal struggles!

LadyLawDog, every time I have seen you on these forums (especially if the topic is "abortion"), you preach respect and religious morality, yet then you turn around and call people "Hitler Wannabes" and other such names. I can tell that the topic of religion, abortion, gay marriage, etc. makes you very passionate - but these forums get trivial and boring when people start snipping back and forth at each other over little things. Let's all please TRY to be open-minded and mature about other people's opinions, and leave the name-calling back at the playground.

Leviticus 20:13
"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."
