Police: Young Gettysburg woman killed in shooting

WHAT THE FREAK..was she doing out at THAT hour?? Yes, it's sad when a young life is taken..But as I said..WHY was she even up that hour..

Chick, you are making some assumptions that she was out at that hour? I didn't know her but have talked with some who did know her. They tell me she was a wonderful young lady who was on track for a very successful life.

The loss of any life is tragic, but one so young even more so.

Had her life not been taken at such an early age, what contributions would she have made to society?

My thoughts and prayers to out to her, her family and friends, and everyone who will be involve in this incident. Gettysburg is a very small town, and thankfully things like this don't happen often. When they do the entire community is affected.

As for why she was out so late/early is irrelevant! That nice girl did not deserve to be shot and killed!

Everytime i was at Dollar General and she was working, she was nice. Always asking about my tatts.:)

Her family is definately in my thoughts.

Gettysburg is fastly becoming the violent crime capital of Pennsylvania.

I haven't been to G'burg for several years now but that area used to be high in drugs and crime. Not sure about the present though. May she rest in peace.

The Rock says that tourists should steer clear of Gettysburg in the future. Antietam is a much safer battlefield for tourism these days.

The locals try and hide the violence that's over taking their town

Strange how all the Cheerleading Locals are DEAD silent about this.

Gettysburg has a MAJOR gang and violent crime problem.

Shootings galore, arson, a man was set on fire for Christ's f'ing sake, robberies, gangs...

It is quickly becoming the murder capital of the US, per capita.

All in all the crime rate in Gettysburg and Adams County will compare favorably against the national average. If that is claiming your crazy posts of doom are blown out of proportion then I am guilty of that.

Never said that and never saw anyone else say it either. I can go back many years and NOT find a year without a crime of this nature so why would I claim it? You are making things up.

Crime hasn't taken over in Gettysburg. As a matter of fact,your chances of being assaulted or having your car stolen are greater in Norwood than in Gettysburg.

Is there crime in Gettysburg? Of course there is, people live here, and anyplace you have people you have crime.

Is crime increasing in Gettysburg? Again people live here and where there are people, there is crime, and every community is having an increase in crime, so Gettysburg is no different from any other location.

Yes regretfully there have been two violent crimes in the past two months.

I still say look at the crime statistics and you will find that Gettysburg is well below the national statistics and state statistics.

I have lived here for most of my 65 years and thankfully I have never been the victim of a crime, but yes I know people who have been. But please show me one community that is crime free. I don’t believe you can do that can you?

Although both incidents are very tragic, and everyone in the area regrets that these things happened, you people are blowing things way out of proportion. Gettysburg is still one of the safest communities in the state and in the country, and I would not live anyplace else.
