Same nonsense we've all heard for years, Rush Limbaugh saying it's a "Liberal Media" out there on the airwaves, in print, and on the radio. Bill O Reilly saying the same thing. Michelle Malkin, all of the other far right bloggers, that insane radio host who just called autistic children "morons", Laura Ingram, all of them making this "liberal media" claim.

In more mainstream venues, Lou Dobbs gets paid to basically whip up right wing anger about immigrants, Sean Hannity and all the rest of the gang at FOX get huge ratings spewing the most astonishing racist screeds in prime time---- and it's a "liberal media" that's the problem, they claim also, often and loudly.

You may see where I'm going with this. To anyone really paying attention it's the most astonishingly right wing atmosphere imaginable when you venture into the media world, far, far, to the right of anything that would represent the actual views of the American public which poll after poll shows is far more in tune with progressive viewpoints than right wing ones, i.e. the notion of leaving Iraq has gotten huge majorities in polls saying yes, for years. Would you know that listening to the corporate right wing news? Would anyone ever read that in your column?

"Methinks thou doth protest too much" was never more apt. John McCain has been fawned over, apologized for, and treated with kid gloves for years, while anyone even remotely connected to Barack Obama was scrutinzed to the point where entire networks became "all reverened Wright, all the time" outlets as far as some of us could tell.

The worst criticism of a journalist I can think of is this: You're letting your commitment to an ideology blind you to what's actually going on. It's going on right in front of you, and there is really no excuse.

For the Obama bashers who POST LONG Fox News talking points & spin. I say this to you. If you think Obama's grandmother is SO important than let's talk about McCain's wife STEALING prescriptions from charity to feed her PAIN KILLER ADDICTION! Let the American people know this & remind them that the ELITE one got away with it. Had it been us we'd have a felony!

Let's also address the fact that former P.O.W'S who were with McCain called him "SONG BIRD" because he spilled the beans & also made 30 plus propaganda tapes for the enemy. They also claim his injuries were NOT from torture but happened when he "bailed out" of his plane. I don't care for this subject but you right wingers did when you attacked Kerry for his service.
So yeah, let the corporate media report that because according to you it is important, well we agree there!

Actually, you have it backwards.

The reporters and editors are overwhelmingly Modern Liberals.

The only reason Kass is an issue is this story deviates from the normal Obama template that the Modern Liberals follow.

The reason newspapers are so goofed up is because they have become so intertwined with Modern Liberals.

Not many people listen to Err America and fewer people buy Liberal newspapers. They need more Kass's to get away from the Modern Liberal template. As I said, just the opposite of your templated opinion.

Oh, come on. This is such plain being offended at the competent.

It's not Obama's fault that McCain isn't taking a world tour; it's not Obama's fault that McCain has made repeated misstatements on a scale that Obama has *not*- and it definitely isn't Obama's fault that McCain has LIED about making these misstatements, while Obama has yet to be caught in anywhere near a similar lie.

I wish McCain was a better candidate, because then the US would have a genuine choice. But Obama is simply better than McCain in judgement, temperament, economic knowledge and grasp of foreign policy -*including* the military.

McCain once stood for something, but this campaign has seen him pander to a shameful degree. His record in Viet Nam as a POW is above reproach - but we need a good President. And he just isn't showing what we need.

Which is the real reason why people everywhere are so much more interested in Obama.

So, YOU tell US.......what is compelling about McCain? Why should he be covered more than he's been? What is he saying that's different, wise, or even interesting?

What IS his message, anyway? I'm flummoxed.

Each day, a new gaffe. And not just ANY gaffe. Gaffes on his supposed strong suit: Iraq and foreign policy. He flounders around, making accusations, and flip-flopping on everything from Afghanistan to stem-cell research.

Hmmmmmmmmm, maybe that IS his message. "I'm not stubborn like Obama, who sticks to his beliefs, no matter what. I'll tell you whatever you want to hear, whenever you want to hear it."

"I am the REAL change candidate."

Time lapse (#731): you're absolutely spot-on. Not that I'm a huge fan of Obama (he pretty much lost me with his FISA betrayal), the fact is McCain has had the press eating out of his hand all year. After sucking up to them with barbeques and such, the media have forgiven McCain for a huge string of blunders, gaffes, and flip-flops for which Obama would have been crucified. There is a strong right-wing, corporate bias in the US media. Thank goodness for the Internets.

Gosh, could it be that John McCain is grumpy fairly often and that Barack Obama is photogenic and well-spoken? Perhaps it is that right now Mr. McCain is in Manchester and Mr. Obama is in Berlin? Bias, schmias. The interesting story right now is Obama. If McCain does something interesting (other than gaffes and flip-flops), the media will be right there. Hey, too bad he didn't pick the Alaskan governor for Veep already. That would have been fun.

No, this is wrong. Limbaugh and O'Reilly may have large audiences, but they are mostly already conservative. As large as the audiences are, they are tiny compared to the mainstream media and Hollywood who both spew out leftist dribble day after day.(Then, add in the schools.)

Whatever people think about these message boards, they add a lot of valuable information to the stories, which tend to be written by Modern Liberals.

For example, look at many AP stories on the Trib site or newspaper and then read the online comments. Many times, much more information can be gained from the comments than the origianl story. The original stories tend to withhold valuable context that can help people. The results is after absorbing the information in the comments, the stories almost always "move the right" as people correct the original story.

Rush and O'Reilly have large audiences but the complaints are usually from people who don't like Freedom of Speech. Liberals would rather have Kass go away than to have a civil discussion.

Aww... poor McCain. The mainstream media isn't giving him enough attention? Pity.

Turnabout is fair play.

<blockquote>I believe this phenomenon is called liberal bias. And the country has caught on."</blockquote> Yeah, it's getting more and more apparently that the country is catching on to the fact that reality has a "libruhl bias." And let's hope they don't forget again soon.

I have a hard time swallowing any of this nonsense about bias towards Obama in the media after seeing the fawning hordes following McCain around and ignoring each and every gaffe he makes. I call it sour grapes. Obama is an exciting candidate that leaves me with hope for our country. It's no wonder the reporters are following him instead of staying home to listen to the pandering sellout that is now McCain.

Paraphrasing your column...

"Waaaaaa! Waaaaaa, waaaaaa, waaaaaa, waaaaaa, WAAAAAAA!"

So, your point is dumb people get carried away and make stupid comments and it scares you? Gosh, I see your point. Why, nobody has ever written a nasty letter or email in response to a column before! What about the children!

Perhaps you should consider a more sheltered career. Something better suited to your delicate sensibilities.

When did Chicago political columnists turn into whiny babies? Did I miss a meeting?

I can see Slats Grobnick casually spitting through his teeth in disdain even now...

Media bias? Yeah right. Do you know how many flip-flops, gaffes, and lies the media has covered up for John McCain? Have you heard about the CBS interview with John McCain where they edited out his wrong information on the Anbar Awakening? Have you noticed that media is dominated by Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity? And conservatives accuse liberals of whining. Go cry me a #$#@%#@ river.

Matt, Matt, stop and re read your own writing for a minute. You said that the media covers for McCain, so how in the hell did you find out about the CBS interview? Through the media, I guess.
