Herald News: Paterson's homicide toll keeps rising

Sad, but true,(however, the Mayor DOES want the State to let him spend money to fight the rightly-deserved Hurricane Irene-related discipline meted out earlier this year by the City Council to members of HIS inner circle!)

we all worry about Paterson's recent troubles with shootings.More needs to be done by the PD and general citizens to stop it before it happens. Patrol Stops, calls for suspicious activities and snitching necessary at this time.

Crime and cleaning up neighborhoods should be the job not only the Mayor(He's only one human being) but the whole City starting with the COUNCIL PEOPLE need to report anything and everything immediately. It works other places and should in Paterson TOO!

The people have to assume some responsibility what happened to neighborhood crime watch groups . With a city that has churches every two or three blocks apart they need to bring God from the places of worship out into the streets quickly

Some of the City Council members do have questionable characters,(just as the Mayor and several of his inner circle did during Hurricane Irene, wrongly grasping for overtime monies to which they were NOT entitled, which is why they were punished). Again, the Mayor wants the State to allow him to spend money to fight those justly-deserved punishments,(and he and his punished inner circle are lucky that they weren't jailed, as it was federal monies that they grasped for), but what he SHOULD be asking for is money to hire more police officers; neighborhood watches can only do so much, as POLICE officers are needed to act on the crime tips provided by the neighborhood watchers!

Paterson police and Mayor Jones is the joke in the city of Paterson. Mayor Jones and the police department is there only for a check and not the people of Paterson. At one point of time the police department controlled the streets now they are buddies with the criminals on the corners.We get what we ask for.The people were complaining about the police department harrassing their children and now their kids are getting gunned down and they are looking for help from the police department.
And to Mayor Jones fix the roads in Paterson there is not one smooth street throughout the city.
