You guys do realize this was an inactive oil rig due to the moratorium right? Not all the rigs have moved to Venezuela or Brazil yet. First people wanted such tight regulations fir on land or close to shore drilling, so they were forced into deep waters. Now people don't want that either so you can either a. Get all oil from overseas or b. Outlaw cars. What is it that people truly want? It sounds like everyone is so up in arms still about Katrina but people fail to realize how the moratorium is affecting these same people. Hate really does lead to illogically thinking. How would you like to get oil and gas for your cars, crayons for your kids, water bottles, and all the other products made from oil? What do you propose people do who have lost jobs to the moratorium? We are talking 20,000 jobs at the least.
Should environmental concerns take a back seat to the 20,000 jobs in jeopardy? Oil is a necessity. However, if you want to mention the children, should not some protections be given to the waters one day they shall control? I think the solution is taking the protections away from corporation such as limits on liability. Take away the protections from criminal persecutions for corporate executives and employees thus they have an interest in the actions - perhaps, preventing wreckless behaviors? Regardless though, as long as individuals do not do their due diligence, individuals will always take an one-sided position on serious policies such as energy.

This article was written in May, right after the other oil disaster.

Sorry, we don't feel safe because there are 4,400 NEGLECTED oil platforms in the Gulf and only few major disasters. The REST are disasters WAITING TO HAPPEN.

Yes, we need to remove limits on corporate liability. Let the free market do it's magic. Then corporations will invest in CLEAN RENEWABLE ALTERNATIVES.

Hey, cranky old man, can't stop that diarrhea? Have you tried Pepto Bismo or some other anti-diarrhea medicine? That's what you get for eating so much crap. Now you're repeating what you sowed. Your a** must be hurting!

You're a lying Tea Bagger. Didn't unhinged Back tell you people to tell the truth?

This rig has been inactive for some time for production reasons, not due to the moratorium.

It is not in the depths of water covered by the moratorium - which was not allowed to go into general effect by the oil industry investor/part time judge, anyway.

Unless you can provide a link that backs up your lie/claim.
