Well Congress, is supposed to provide for Defense, they are not required to protect those who choose to build in unsuitable locations.

What will be left to defend? People smart enough to not live amongst dry scrub brush.......

How about we cut all the money we give to other nations and end all teh wars and close 3/4 of military bases in other nations...that alone would save us close to 1 trillion a year.

Now end the following departments........DEA ATF TSA FCC and end war on drugs and we could save another 500 billion or more.....

I just saved 1.5 trillion and not oen single American got hurt or lost anything..........

Typically bad choices by Congress; continue vast amounts of military funding, including funding for illegal foreign wars, but cut funding for critical functions like firefighting. We are governed by idiots, not that this is news.

"Defense" against natural disasters is far,FAR more important than fighting endless wars of aggression. When was the last time we "defended" our nation against someone? Other than bin Laden, at least. WWII? Perhaps Korea? Certainly not in Vietnam, the Gulf, Bosnia, or Iraq. Or the current morass in Afghanistan.

We need to make better choices. So do you.

Federal, states, counties, cities and towns all reduced to beggary. No infrastructure rebuilt. Schools left to rot. Police and fire departments
cut in half. Social services closed down. Etc., etc., etc.

I live near the coast and have seen too many beachfront villas rebuilt with fed funds after a storm......

People used to be smart enough to not build in flood plains, wildfire prone areas, beach fronts, etc, when it was on them to rebuild......
