Yeah, I hate having to deal with the usual library drunks when I'm in there reading. At times it gets hard to concentrate. I've been trying to read about horticulture and the cop in there keeps lookin at me strange. Jimmy O will tell ya the same thing. Back in the old days Mrs. Clark would've bounced those drunks out herself. Poo the Library Cat hated drunks more than anything.

This story troubles me...how old are these drunks? Are they younguns who drink and go in there to escape the cold? Homeless? Maybe outfit the library workers with stun guns. Or, provide a happy hour \ buffet \ puppet show...

Oh, drunks at the Ridge library again? It makes me yearn for the care-free days of my youth when I would frequently be highly intoxicated at various libraries. There is something about the Ridge library that just makes me want to open an entire vintage bottle of Che D'issan Moulin Bordeaux Superiuer (French - 1964) and down the whole thing in one swift blast. It's also an excellent wine for "cannon-balling" with some equally fine Maui Wowey.

I'm assuming you are hinting to the fact that PADS is on Wednesday nights, however all PADS guests are breathalyzed before coming into the building, and therefore would not be the drunks at the library. Most of the people that come to PADS would not jeapordize there chance of having a warm place to sleep by drinking during the day.

I worked PADS and witnessed the breathalyzer. The one's who didn't pass (which were only a few) still got to take their meal to go, but couldn't stay the night. PADS is mighty crowded (thanks to the economy)so they could use more volunteers and donations. I don't believe that Wednesday is the only day the libary is having issues. I'm sure a little police attention will fix the problem.

All the parties involved discuss PADS repeatedly. These guys are not residents looking for a place to hang out other than Dunkin Donuts. This is a community problem and caused by an institution that is not being a very good neighbor. Homeless don't flock to the CR library.

So, are you saying that the homeless are going to the library or not? Wednesdays before PADS and Thursdays when they have to leave Our Lady? You said all the parties involved discuss PADS repeatedly. I'm a little confused by your post.

Homeless don't flock to the CR library. You need to clarify what is the "institution that is not being a very good neighbor". If you mean Our Lady you are sadly mistaken. They are being a great neighbor to those most in need. Do you know how many children are served by PADS. I bet you don't because you sound like a criticizer and not a doer. Our Lady serves hundreds of people a month-many of them parishioners and residents of the ridge who are in need. So you better not be referring to them. I don't see a food pantry or soup kitchen in the village hall!!!!!

If you had a party and you invited out-of-towners you would be responsible for them if they went to the library and peed all over the place. PADS attracts losers. When you volunteered did you seen anyone that you knew? If you did why didn't you just take them home? Bleeding heart liberal jerk.

I'm a little confused by your post. Maybe you need a reading comprehension test HornWitch. Of course I am talking about the pregame PADS and the afterset PADS losers heading to the library. did you think that our library would be a commune?

You are right that Our Lady does a fine job to help out, but they do need more help. The volunteers there have been doing it for so many years. Same people pretty much.

From what I see around the grounds the day after pads, they are pigs, all of the free stuff that is donated to them is all over the grounds and empty beer bottles and cans, even condoms for all to see. Also I see many coming off of buses so many of them are not Ridge or Parish residents. They also ruined the adoration chapel at our lady and pulled everything off the walls!

Hmm, I'll have to pay more attention. If that is the case, something should be done. Maybe more volunteers could help clean up. As for the Adoration Chapel, when was this???

Inviting someone to my house does not make me responsible for them after they leave. As long as I don't serve them alcohol they are responsible for themselves. The church is my house, its the whole parish's house and we invite those in need once a week for shelter. What have you done for anyone in crisis lately? BTW-I'm not even a liberal I'm actually quite conservative - you know - the small government, protect individual freedoms, NRA kind of person.

Funny-I don't see all that in the morning. Its also funny that I was just at chapel yesterday and it looked quite fine..clean, peaceful, quiet. PADS is for all homeless, its actually a network of shelters throughout the south suburbs. This just shows you don't know one think about the program but feel the need to criticize it. actually you're not even criticizing you're just making hysterical, inane comments to stir someone's ire. Won't take the bait! but We will continue to pray for those of your ilk.
