Shirley library won't close for repairs

I bet this is the slowest Library in Suffolk county, beside a few old people reading free newspapers everyday. Not one resident or local kids goes in tot his Library it is the biggest waist of tax money in Suffolk.

Honestly this building would be better as a home to battered woman, abused kids, community center, or a place where the day laborers can gather and get work in Shirley instead of 7-11 and all the deli and local businesses.

The Library would be better used as another drug and alcohol treatment center, the high school has the drug rehab covered and we need one in Shirley with Methadone. Not one person can read - I only see homeless in this Library all the time!

No one in Shirley or Mastic and read or write why do they have a Library? The homeless hangout here to keep warm in the winter and fall. This is mor elike a homeless shelter them a library.

Reading, you are delightful just the way you are. However, your post would be much more effective had it not been riddled with poor grammar, mis-spellings and signs that you suffer dyslexia. Maybe you should spend a little time at your local library.

I have been to this Shirley Library about 20 times, I have only seen homeless getting warm, and allot of drunks. They need to change this Library to a Homeless shelter in Shirley or a alcohol and drug abuse center. I don't think anyone has checked out a book in years.

been to this Library, also never seen anyone reading. I think take out for books never happens. it's more of a Homeless shelter is right. Cars with beer cans are in front, they use the library bathrooms to shower and get high, you see junkies from mastic and Shirley getting high in this Library.

Why do we need a Library if no one who goes there reads or can read. All I see are Barry the bumb in this place. Shoping carts filled with bottles, this Library is more like a homeless shelter honestly!

I heard they were going to make this library a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that also specializes in methadone rehab? Well the Library was not getting used and it was the biggest waist of money and time, might as well give the resident of that trailer park something they will and can use a methadone clinic.

I agree this was used as a homeless shelter more then a public library, all homeless and drug addicts were in this place everyday, last book rented was 1862

I know that Library, it is a crack den for Shirley residents, lots of drug deals were done in that Library.your right no books were ever taken out!
